Mouse control for light guns games

Sorry if this has been answered before but I searched the forum and google and could not find the answer.

I imagine its very simple answer: How do I use the mouse in gameex to play light gun games. I've looked through the configurations and can;t figure it out. Even when I launch a game and go to inupt settings for that game and I select to edit the fire button and I click the mouse button it won't register as a button press.

Hi there and welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately MAME disables the mouse by default so you'll need to enable it. There are a couple of ways in doing so. Either:

Add -mouse to your command line argument (in Setup Wizard> MAME Settings> MAME Options (scroll down a little bit).

OR

Open mame.ini (found in your MAME directory), find the following section and change mouse to 1 like so:

## CORE INPUT OPTIONS#coin_lockout              1ctrlr                     mouse                     1  <-just like thatjoystick                  1lightgun                  0

Then File> Save (or hit CTRL+S on your keyboard).

I'm of course assuming you are talking about MAME If not then by all means elaborate as to what system you are referring and we'll gladly help

I wonder if there's a bit of confusion around where to enable mouse settings?

You will have to get mice(!?) working in each emulator, not in GameEx. So you need to be changing the emulator settings, not GE settings.

GameEx is just a launcher of the emulators, telling it which game to launch too.

Thanks guys.

I added the line in the mame.ini file but it still did not work. However when I added -mouse in the advance gameex config under mame it worked.

Now just wait for my xacarcade tank stick see how much I use it then invest in a full cabinet.
