I always see the people that post in the forum have both a gamer tag and many have an additional tag with their name or something else. I saw the posts and figured out how to get the gamer tag going. I am just having trouble locating an area for uploading an image into my profile for the signature part. Do I need to have a URL for the image or is there probably something very easy I am missing? Could I just attach it to a post somewhere and then link it that way?

Yes, any image you add to your signature needs to be addressable via URL. I suppose you could put your desired image in a post and reach it that way, but if you wanted to be supercool you could also use a Dropbox account (which is probably the easiest), Google Photos (which I usually do), or really any other photo sharing service just as easily.

Evenin Max.

Ive found dropbox really good for this type of thing. Beauty is it sits in your os as a folder. You can place any pictures or screenshots etc in there, and once sync'd (automatic and quick) you just right click on the image and select "copy public link" if I remember you have to make sure you place them in the "public" folder.

It realyy does make forums a doddle and great for things like screenshots (I use Screenshot captor) when trouble shooting.

The different versions of bbcode used by different forums, on the other hand is a whole different world of pain entirely.

+1 to DropBox - its a convenient cloud storage/syncing service combined with a simple linking service. And you get a really nice amount of storage for free! Not to mention that many people on here have DropBox accounts ;) *comes in handy*

Thanks! I do have a dropbox and google drive. I just have always used it for a secondary backup to stuff. I didn't realize you could use the URL. I'll take a look and get something public.

Anyone have any ideas on why the thing just stalls out every time I try to link my public folder URL picture in the profile?

Haha, the link is in my signature, but not the pic. Here is the link. Maybe others can try and see if they can add the URL. Maybe it's my explorer settings or something....

Hmm ... Are you using your Public Folder in Dropbox? The weird thing about your link is that it doesn't include an image file extension (or any file extension). The forum software is going to balk at that. It only allows for certain image file extensions within IMG tags and won't like it if there's no file extension. Here's an example of hot linking an image stored in the Public Folder of my Dropbox:

GameEx_Exolution.png

And here's what the forum code for that looks like:

Good luck man! Hopefully that proves to be helpful.

Ahh, when in DropBox you need to create a working link to your content, I forget how to do this. So for your pic, you need to create a link for it - this will not only make it able to link to directly, but also share in forum sigs, forum posts, FB and the like. Sorry i can't elaborate too much right this moment, but you should get the gist of what i'm saying ^_^

Ok, well maybe my problem is that I don't have Dropbox on my drive. I was just using the web version of Dropbox.

Thanks for all the help. I finally got it! I am not totally sure what the heck I was doing. I ended up needing to go to BB code and then just putting the URL for the image in that way. I still haven't quite figured out the proper input when using the 'Image' icon. I put in the URL and it stalled. Do I need to put in brackets or img= or is that automatically included.

Here is the link:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/102663888/GAMEEX/MNMax21banner.jpg

Would I then put in:

img=https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/102663888/GAMEEX/MNMax21banner.jpg

or:

MNMax21banner.jpg

The other link that was in here first was actually a shrunken link from dropbox. If you are on dropbox.com and you click the copy public link, there was also an option to shorten link. That's why that one was odd looking. Either way, I got it to work, but did a work around.

Haha, it looks like I answered my question by which picture showed up above. We shall see!
