I recently had to reinstall windows 7 and now I need to reinstall GameEx and I want my original settings back.

I backed up the entire original gameex install (not latest version, I believe its v13.00) to get my settings back.

What I've done so far is, reinstalled GameEx (v13.08) and its running fine.

Then I copied the original CONFIG folder into my newly installed config folder and now GameEx won't start and throws up an error about DirectX not being installed when it definitely is installed.

So what do I need to do? Any advice is much appreciated.

Also when I get this problem solved I'm planning to get gameex running on my laptop and was hoping I can just copy my Gameex install from my windows 7 64bit PC onto my windows xp 32bit Laptop with the settings intact.

Is that possible? If so, how? Again any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi BN1_Soldier

Normally the safest way to migrate your GameEx intallation is to copy the entire GameEx installation directory to the target machine, and then install GameEx over the top of that directory.

As noted here:

Q: I'm wanting to move my GameEx install over to a new system. Can I just install GameEx on the new system, then copy my old GameEx folder over the new folder?
A: Yes, you can copy your directory over to the new system/location and then install over top of it. That should work fine. Note: you copy the folder first then install GameEx over the top.
