Bought Gameex about a week ago, and really loving it, great program for an awesome price. I've gotten through most of my issues and am having a small problem with the screensaver. I've got it set to only run videos. When the screensaver kicks in, it always starts with the first video (is there a way to randomize which one it uses). When that video ends, it just stays on the last shot. It doesn't move on to the next video. Is there a way to have it randomly pick videos for the screensaver and then move on to the next video when the current on is done playing? Thanks!

Actually read the log, and it appears to show that it did go to the next video, I'm going to let it kick in again and see if it goes to the next video and if not, see if the log says it did

If it seems to get hung on the same video, move the video elsewhere and let it cycle again. If successful, then the issue may likely be that video.

more testing. Same thing. I removed the video that was mentioned in the logs, and the same thing ha[pened. The log shows that a second video did start, but it never plays. The system is not hung, I hit any key and it goes back to the console, but next time the screensaver kicks in, same thing happens.

So here's where I'm at. if I try to play movies, it does it's little trick. if I tell it just to play games, it correctly switches from game to game. If I tell it to do a ratio of games and movies 1 to 1, it only does games. So not sure what the deal with the movies is, if it works for other people, perhaps it's the way I created the videos (converted them from mp4 to avi).

On the other hand, I actually like the games running as the screensaver, so I'm satisfied to just turn the movies off. The games part wasn't working before, but I was doing all games and think it was just hitting some bad roms. i switched it to favorites only and it's working great. When building my cabinet, I looked at hyperspin, maximus arcade and gameex, and am so glad I went with gameex, this program is just so awesome! Thanks!

Hi servo, i'm curious as to why you converted from mp4 to AVI? Was it because of playback issues?

If so you may need to install some codecs. I know there is a stigma around codec packs but many of us here, myself included, have had great success using shark007's codec pack. The pack is designed to be conflict free and easy to use and you may find your vids work OK after install. MP4's are the way to go and among other things you'll be able to make full use of the tasty vid-snaps over at EmuMovies :)

PS I prefer to have just games in the screensaver too, and GE is awesome ain't it?! It gets even better the more you learn it so be ready to have your mind blown (again, and again) :D

So, I downloaded the videos with keepvid from youtube. They came down in mp4, downloaded the latest codec and could get them running in windows, but gameex wasn't playing them. I looked it up and didn't see mp4 as a format that could be used with gameex (I was surprised, but maybe I was looking at old documentation). So I converted them to avi, and then gameex could see and run them, but... well, you know the rest of the story. I'll try the codec you mentioned, but honestly, i don't care now because the screensaver playing games looks so darned cool.

I've wanted a mame cabinet since I can remember, as least 15 years going back, and a couple of weekends ago someone offered me an empty arcade cabinet, and I had an extra laptop, and now I have a very cool arcade. The gameex front-end is nothing short of amazin. i knew I'd put mame in the arcade, but never even considered all the other emulators I had, and they're all working beautifully. And you're right about it getting better-- The more I learn the more I go in and play with more configurations.

Anyway, to the dev, thanks so much; great program and at a really decent price. i might have to donate another $20 to support further development-- it's just that good.

just for info: in screensaver mode with game-mode on, you can start the current game if you like it or you have never seen it and want to try it. just insert coin and there you go ;).
