GameEx isn't hiding Adult/Mahjong games in Mame

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I just set up GameEx, and everything is working great, except for the fact that Adult and mahjong games are still showing on the game list, even though I have GameEx set up to hide them. Any ideas on why that would be?

Yes, I did. Multiple times. The clones aren't being shown, so some of the filtering is working. Do you need to buy a license to get adult content to filter out?

It seems like there is an issue with the verify.dat, maybe that is the reason?

I’m not an expert on GroovyMAME by any stretch of the imagination. You might try turning off Verify ROMs in the Setup Wizard. That would at least take care of the error seen above. It may be that the verify error is throwing off the catver.ini processing.

I see also that you’ve specified a different location for catver.ini. You might try setting the catver.ini location to default (which would be in your GameEx installation directory at GameEx\DATA\catver.ini) and see if that makes a difference. If that change does make a difference, you may want to grab an updated catver.ini.

Ok, so I:

• turned off verify roms
• reverted catver.ini back to \DATA\catver.ini
• Switched to Mame instead of Groovymame (just to make sure)

Still no dice. So weird, I seem to be the only person this has happened to...

Just to verify, did you rebuild your list in GameEx after taking those steps?

Yes, I did.

So I turned all Adult games back on, including the Adult menu, to see what games are included with that list. I then turned filtering back on. It seems like the filtering might be working, just not for all the adult games. Here is a game that isn't filtered:

catver.ini

wondstck=Puzzle / Outline *Mature*

Here is one that is:

catver.ini

sadari=Puzzle / Drop *Mature*

Not sure what the difference is between the two. Both should be blocked.
