Neo Geo: No Info Displayed in GameEx

I'm also having the same problem with Neo-Geo roms its also not showing times played ect...

Hi all, hopefully someone can help me with this issue. I currently have GameEx setup with 4 different emulators, 1 for NES, SNES, Genesis and Playstation. There's a description that comes up for nearly every game in my NES, SNES and Genesis rom lists in GameEx (save for the non-standard ROMs). However, there is no description for any of the Playstation games I have. The Playstation roms will show up (they are mostly in .iso and .cue/.bin format), but when you open them up, no description for the game, as though it were not in the [Console] Sony Playstation game database. I updated the database files just now, and no change.

Has anyone seen this issue? How do I fix it, so that the game descriptions for my PSX games show up?

I'm sure I haven't given you enough info, so if you need anymore, please just ask and I will provide it.

I split your post from the quoted post so that we don't start crossing wires with troubleshooting advice. The problem reported by jperkins may or may not be related to the issue you're experiencing. You'll also get more eyes on your issue this way.

So tell us a bit more about your issue. Is this happening for Neo Geo games in your MAME list or are you running Neo-Geo games separately as a dedicated emulator? If you're running it as a dedicated emulator, are you using a map file? When or if you have a moment, please post a copy of your GameEx config and a copy of your log after having experienced the problem. Here's a thread describing how to do that. Thanks man!

I'm running neo-geo roms with kawaks and I'm using a neo-geo map file.

The problem is that its not displaying "times played" & "last played". Its not a major issue, but it would be nice to have it all working.

Your emulator config looks good as near as I can tell. It might be helpful to have a look at your full GameEx.ini, but it’s hard to say. It certainly couldn’t hurt.

The first thing I would recommend would be updating to the most recent version of GameEx (currently 12.98). We had a similar report a while back, which was marked as resolved at the time. It’s hard to say when these fixes are implemented into the main branch of GameEx, so updating to the most recent version will help to determine if this issue has been addressed by Tom.

If that doesn’t work we’ll take a look at refreshing all your cached information and see where that goes.

ok so whats the best way to update gameex? Download latest version and install over my current version? If so will I lose all my settings?

A download & install will not harm your settings, but would not be a bad idea to backup your gameex.ini file if you have any concerns.
