ROMs not displaying, ROM database not updaing and strange results in Verify Setup

Hello,

I've been using GameEx for a few months now and am finally nearly finished setting it up exactly how I want it :)

It's been a bit of a challenge but made easier from these forums.

I just have a few more issues at the moment that I'm hoping I can get sorted out.

1) MAME is no displaying all ROMS:

I have the following set up in GameEx.ini

OnlyWorking=False

AllowImperfect=True

VerifyRoms=True

OnlyRoms=True

Also, after selecting MAME, it categorises the ROMS into All, vector, horizontal, vertical etc

It used to have 2 player suimultaneous / 4 player suimultaneous on there as well but unsure what has happened to that..

2) Game Database not updaing

I have recently renamed many of my ROMs.

I have deleted all the *.dbcache and *.map files in the GameEx directory but it still seems that GameEx is pointing to / trying to load ROMs with the old file name. When selecting the ROMs in GameEx, which are played via VirtuaNES I get an error ... Hmmm .... Just tried to get a copy of the error but a few I know weren't working seem to be now.. The error was listing the previous ROM name. Any idea why that would have been happening after deleting those files? Don't want it to start happening again...

3) Verify Setup

Unsure if it's meant to be like this or not but it's a bit hard to figure out what is going on with the setup of everything when it lists missing things which aren't meant to be there in the first place.

For example, if I select 'No' to setting up Daphane I get errors in Verify Setup with all the paths for Daphane saying that they do not exist..

I have set default controls for systems not specifically for games. So I have set the control path in the advanced emulator setup to Assets\Nintendo NES\Controls\Nintendo NES.png

This also causes GameEx to say that the directory 'Nintendo NES.png' does not exist and that there are no files in that directory.

I think that's all for the moment. Thanks in advance for the help. I've attached my log file and GameEx.ini

Thanks

Hello! :)

I hope I can help ya sort this out - or at least help ya in the right direction. From first hand experience, GameEx is easy to set up and configure...if ya have a lot of emulators and games, it can be a bit time consuming lol.

1) Try setting "Verify Roms" to false...and then add any extra roms you wish to add (that will not be there after updating your list) in "Don't Filter These Roms" box in the setup wizard. The way you do this is typing all of the names of the roms you wish to add, that is not displayed in GameEx, and then open up GameEx and update game list. One thing to point out also, you can download a different version of MAME, as an alternative version, and use the mapping magician to map out any mame roms that will not work with the main one to work with the alternative one. (this is a really awesome feature of using GameEx ;) )

Also, please refer to this thread for the issue concerning the 2 and 4 sim catagories in GameEx: http://www.gameex.in...update/ (you gotta make sure that the controls.ini file is set under the MAME config in setup wizard)

2) Not too sure on this one...it might take a few, but I'll look around for you :)

3)If there are any errors in the verify section of the setup wizard - technically, that is really nothing to worry about. Like an example using "daphne", you would have to just delete the paths (image, snaps, etc) even after you set enabled to "no". Be careful though what you clear out....do not clear out the controls.ini in mame...I can not point that out enough lol. Basincally the most useful reason for the verify feature in the setup wizard is if you want to verify that the paths are correct after making any adjustments (directing GameEx to see artwork, etc folders)

I hope any of this helps, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!!
