I am trying to map the controls of the ProSystem (Atari 7800) emulator to work with my control panel. I have it mapped to work correctly when I play directly from the Prosystem exe but when I try to play it from Gameex, the rom and emulator load but the controls don't stay mapped correctly for me to use the control panel. Any ideas on why the input configuration doesn't stay the same from the exe to gameex would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The only things that come to mind are:

Command line switches. Are you pointing it to the wrong ini somehow?

-or-

Advanced emulator configs. Is there a config in place that's jacking your mappings?

Either way, export and post your emulator ini so we can take a look.

Here is my ini file. I tried to attach it but it said that I wasn't allowed to attach this type of file.

I tried changing the control panel path to the folder that has the emulator in it and the configuration file but that did not change anything.

Condense emu cfg file to spoiler

Try removing the ControlPanelPath and run again. Unless you have several images that are in that folder and named the same as your ROMs that's not gonna work.

Also try blanking out the box that says 'Advanced Emulator Config' since that may be jacking your controls as well.

I changed the control panel path to blank and the advanced emulator config to blank and still no dice. Here is my updated ini file.

is the woorking path the same one your EXE is in? If so do you have other emus in the same folder? I sense a problem with INIs getting overwritten by another emu if that's the case.

Posted

My exe is in the same folder that my working path points to. The only thing in that folder is the exe, config file, some text files, a DAT file, a couple of ROM files and a couple of a7800 zip files. I attached an image of my folder so you can get a better look at what I have in it. Any of those seem like they shouldn't be there?

Nah, it looks ok to me, I'm not sure what's going on here. Are you committed to that emu? Would you be willing to try MESS?

Posted

Yeah I can go ahead and give MESS a try. The other Atari emulators I was using have been difficult configuring controls for as well so it's probably better just to switch to MESS and see if that solves the problem. Thanks for your help anyway.

Was the ProSystem.ini file just not keeping the saved settings when running from command-line?
