Ok I a problem.I want to switch my emulation folder (that holds everythings, emu's roms, artwork etc...) to a different drive.is there anyway to do this without having to set Gameex up all over again? everything now is on my C: drive and I wish to change it my E: drive but all the paths are set in Gameex as C:

so is this possible?

You do not have to reinstall GameEx, just move the folders to the E: drive and edit the drive paths within each emu and GameEx to the new drive:\path .

Say you have your emulators in C:\Emulators you should be able to do a search and replace in GameEx.ini to E:\Emulators using Notepad.

I used HK's method when I updated my cab last week, and it worked fantastic. ;)

If your emus are being moved also, make sure you do this for your emulator ini's as well!

There is another semi bruit force option that should work well and won't allow you to miss anything IMO. First, make a backup of your gameex.ini. Then, open up the gameex.ini in a text editor. Use the find/replace feature to find all instances of the root path (say "c:\emu") and replace it with your new drive/path ("e:\emu"). You can do this for all instances without reviewing, but I'd recommend doing it one at a time (just click yes for each that needs fixing).

I've done this in the past and it works fine. Drako, HK and Adultery have other ways, but IMO this is the easiest.

Other ways? Is HK's post not the same way just not in so many words? :P

*LOL* That's what I thought, since that's exactly what I did.

1) Open gameex.ini in a text editor

2) EDIT tab, select FIND AND REPLACE

3) Find: C:\Emulators

4) Replace: D:\Emulators

5) Click OK.

As mentioned I did the same with my emu inis to make sure I didn't change any save data paths inadvertently.

Is this not the same?

I think pretty much the same as for me and HK. Mine is really no different even though it was said it is.. damned brevity. There I go trying to keep the explanation short... LOL!

Well at least we're a family, even if we're dysfunctional! Haha!

I skimmed the other posts before suggesting that. I thought the gist of HK's post was to use the Setup Wizard and so I stopped reading. Well at least you got some answers!
