  1. Holy shit man that kid is like the ancient alien of arcades! Thanks what a great read Drac. Just googled the parts, and the motor, driver, controller, are about $160. I mean doable, but damn, way off budget. That dude is crazy, that's way out of my league. I did get a better understanding of how it all goes, moving parts etc so thanks man, I can try and take that knowledge and try and whip up some sort of, *ehm* ghetto apparatus.
  2. I've seen those videos in this thread and jroks. Haven't seen any type of motorized instructional or anything like that..
  3. Hahaha I know. If it were up to me our 3rd bedroom would be an arcade. She is a doll and deserves a lot of credit for putting up with my inner nerd. Plus she'll be all over it when it's done 😉 Draco: I would love to use a crt, I have a 22" tube tv I had plan to use, but if I can muster a way to get rotating, I might have to opt for a lighter weight LCD.
  4. Great idea Han. Think I'll look into option b
  5. So a possible problem hit me in bed last night regarding how the planned crt tv will power on automatically. I was planning on using a mini power minder like I had in my first cab, R.I.P. (rest in peices). This has 2 plugs, when the PC is powered on, it sends a signal to the secondary plug firing on the rest of my peripherals. (google mini power minder). The first time, also using a tube tv, I jammed a toothpick between the tvs power button and the frame which held the button down so it would fire up when given power. I'd like a more reliable? method if any. Any ideas??
  6. Hmm. Got in touch with Jrok who has built a non-motorized rotating display... The giant bearing he used that I asked him to point me to costs $115! Have to wait until the girl gets back from vacation and see what she thinks, she's already displeased with the proposed arcade budget not including this bearing.
  7. Ok guys, 12:30 midnight and I've finally got my 0163 hi-score patched working! Zipping it up as we speak and putting it on a back up hard drive safe and sound. Thank you all for your help. Next orders of business, epsxe, chankast and theme editor. After that, time to build
  8. Glad to have you aboard. I'm in the somewhat early stages. Trying to work the kinks out of my mame compile, getting GameEx ready, (still waiting on MAMEDVDS to get me my 1063 set) then the manual labor begins On a very early and weak first note: I ordered a 4.5v dc motor today. 1500rpm, probably going to be too small to do the job. But I wanna have a look.
  9. adultery what's up! was wondering where everyone from 06 went! Hope things are good! And, you are right my friend, I did not apply the stinking patch in the GUI of Kaze's compiler. Total loser! I know you were the wizard at the theme editor, that's my next stop once this is sorted out. Thanks for the input, and nice to see ya again friend.
  10. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Hi score patch never took put it in the patch folder, and then extracted hi-score dat to mame folder and made a new folder called hi... nothing. Just when I thought I had it.
  11. scooorreeeee!!!! Hell yeah! Thank you so much guys for your help! It must have been bc my files werent fresh, or I also noticed I didn't rename the hi-score to .diff, bc when I downloaded through MC64, it didn't appear to have a file extension..((See Dazzle... STUPID mistake)) my guess is it did, just wasn't displaying in explorer. Didn't even think of it until I went through it again tonight. Well, on a good note, I'm compiled. Going to test. Will write back.
  12. Dually noted Dazzle. I actually couldn't see that threading option you were referring to unfortunately. Hopefully the clean dls and fresh mc64 do the trick... 40 min in, still rollin
  13. Just re-installed mc64, downloaded build tools via mc64, downloaded a fresh mame0163src, a fresh mingw-64, fresh hi-score0163.txt, renamed to hi-score0163.diff, placed them in the folders mc64 would download them to: Mingw::::C:\buildtools\mingw Source Folder::::C:\buildtools\src Hi-score::::C:\buildtools\patch Mamesrc::::C:\buildtools\src\mame Been compiling w no errors for 5:50 so far. Wish me luck. P.S. How long SHOULD it take? I know when I woke up and it was 7hrs in that wasn't right.. Just so I can abort if need be
  14. Omg I'm so doing that.
  15. Would be happy to. Will be trying in a few hours
  16. Really dazzle, no worries, I appreciate you looking at all angles, and mostly for your time.
  17. Oh absolutely not! This isn't my first mame cab rodeo. I'm no stranger to late-night stupidity hahaha. Watch I'll get home later and be like, "oh, I'm a fucking idiot, THAT'S what was wrong" haha
  18. Hahah I do have 64bit. Thanks for checkin, I feel stupid I can't figure this out, but fortunately I'm not THAT dense! Lol. Usually always ends up being something dumb like that though doesn't it?
  19. Thanks everyone. I pray all goes well. Don't know what caused it to hang for 7hours as I downloaded latest through MC64 just to see where everything should go. I'll reinstall MC64 and rid of all the directories I tried with and try again.
  20. Good tip! Thanks man will try and slay the dragon again tonight. Would you recommend ticking 'clean compile'?
  21. Hey Thurman, I tried this last night... "compiled" for 7 hours before I quit it.
  22. I'll try again tonight I guess. Thanks man.
  23. I have, this killin me! I am willing to do it manually too. I tried following mr do's guide numerous times but I think the build tools or something is in the wrong directory? Says python not in the path?? Would you be willing to explain where all these directories should be? I have c:\mingw, c:\mame0163src And c:\buildtools
  24. Sweet. Thanks. Can you tell me where to put everything specifically?? I got the compiler to start compiling 1063 before I went to bed, woke up and it was still going. The time log read 7+ hours! I know it doesn't take that long
