  1. Dude, that Genesis screen is bringing sexy back! Nice work!
  2. Good deal! Yeah I wondered if the "CF" part was referring to CrossFire. Glad to hear you got it resolved. Well done!
  3. Hi Idolmeister and welcome to the GameEx forums I have to tell you I have never seen anything like this, but I can assure you it's not related to any sort of registration issue. Only thing I can figure is that something might be going on with your video card/integrated graphics? What hardware are you running for video? Have you tinkered with video card settings to see if that helps at all?

I actually thought Super Mario 64 was a pretty brilliant game, and certainly waaaaaay ahead of any other 3D games at the time in terms of play control and whatnot, but ugh ... it was that stupid voice that was like nails on a chalkboard to me. Mario should be mute (or voiced by Captain Lou Albano). Period. He certainly shouldn't sound like the Italian version of Elmo on helium. Obviously it didn't kill the game for me, but hearing that voice was like seeing your favorite comic book character portrayed by someone who just doesn't "get" the character. Sorry for OT. I don't even own a Wii U.
  5. Yeah I totally agree that the recent in-progress trilogy is the best adaption of the Hobbit, but ... oh me and oh my ... you wound me with your comments about the animated feature! Naturally the passage of time has not been kind the original animated feature of The Hobbit, and viewed through modern eyes it definitely appears antiquated. But as a kid I thought that movie was awesome. It was not a super faithful adaptation or anything, but I would say that one thing the animated feature captured more accurately than the feature films is all the singing. You wouldn't know it from watching the movies, but the characters in the book(s) are breaking into one song or another at the drop of the hat, Truth be known I always found these sections of the book(s) to be a bit tedious, because as a somewhat musical person I couldn't just read the song lyrics and move on, I had to envision what each song might actually sound like (tune, harmony, tempo, time signature etc.). It would take me forever just to get through one song! At any rate I think if nothing else the animated feature did a pretty good job with that aspect (I believe it even stayed pretty close to the actual song lyrics from the book IIRC although it's certainly been a while.)
  6. Oh dude this totally gave me a flashback. I've mentioned before on the forums how I grew up in Wyoming. When I was a kid my Mom and I would take these epic road trips from Northern Wyoming down into West-Central Colorado to visit my aunt (her sister). The first time I was ever exposed to the Lord of the Rings was in the form of an audio book on one of those road trips. We listened to all three books back to back over the course of that trip. I just remember how cool it was as a kid listening to the details of the epic journey of the Fellowship while actually being on an epic journey myself. Now the first time I was ever exposed to The Hobbit was during one summer as a kid that I spent at my Grandpa's cabin in the San Juan mountains of Colorado. His cabin sat on the north shore of a small-ish lake that was stocked with Trout. Any hoo I remember remember the Hobbit so clearly because one of my Grandpa's neighbors from across the lake rowed clear across in his row boat so that he could bestow this book upon me. It really was a nice gesture; I was the perfect age for the book, and you couldn't beat a mountain setting like that for reading about the adventures of Bilbo and the gang. But ... I never read the book that summer! Heck, I was in the San Juan mountains for Pete's sake! I had tree forts to build, fish to catch, slingshots to shoot, pocket valleys to explore, etc. I didn't have time to sit around and read! At any rate, it planted the seed of curiosity about this mysterious book that I had chosen to ignore. So back to the topic at hand. I've enjoyed the Hobbit movies from what I've seen (only the first thus far), but yeah I'm still sort of surprised they opted for a trilogy. It's the shortest book in the entire series (by a big margin), and a prologue to boot! Obvious cash grab is obvious, but hey it's the sort of cash grab that can grab my cash no questions asked.
  7. Hi CPSNine and welcome to the Spesoft forums! When you have a moment would you mind posting a copy of your PinballX log? It may be that there is useful troubleshooting information being output to the log. (Or not ... but we won't know until we have a look ). Further it may also be useful to post a copy of your PinballX config. Here are the details on how to access that information. Thanks man!
  8. Custom menus would probably fit the bill as far as that goes.
  9. Depending on how much this bothers you there's really nothing to stop you from making your own edits to your databases. If that sounds interesting to you scope out this post for some additional info as far as that goes. If I'm going rouge and making my own edits to the databases I use Database Browser Portable exclusively for working with GameEx SQLite Databases (based on a suggestion from Stu1983). There are a few other options available though.
  10. Sweet man! Glad to hear it's working out for you. Happy gaming sir!
  11. Your command is still wrong. It is literally just "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" and nothing else. Working path could really be whatever you want being that it's the bat file itself that "knows" where to find the emulator.
  12. No each .bat should have the entire command (or set of commands) it it. Sorry I messed that up earlier. So if you include the path to Dolphin in your batch command it should work out: "Q:\Emulators\Dolphin\Dolphin.exe" -e "I:\Games\G2ME01 Metriod Prime 2 Echoes\game.iso"You could also do do the directory navigation right there in the batch file if you preferred: Q:cd Q:\Emulators\Dolphin\Dolphin.exe -e "I:\Games\G2ME01 Metriod Prime 2 Echoes\game.iso"There are actually quite a few ways to skin that cat. Good luck man I think you're getting pretty close here.
  13. Hi jkalna22 and Welcome to the GameEx forums! With problems like these there could be any multitude of issues occurring, so we often request a bit more information to assist in troubleshooting. When you have a moment would you mind uploading a copy of your GameEx config, as well as a copy of your log immediately after experiencing the issue (and closing GameEx) This thread will be beneficial to you in learning how to access that information. Thanks!
  14. Ha! As I was typing out the steps I was actually wondering if you would beat me to the suggestion! Brother from another mother indeed! I would have preferred to have the map file working, but if this is what it takes to make it work so be it! I was a bit concerned about additional watched processes which may come to bear, but I think we're good here as I believe the batch window will stay open as long as the launched process (Dolphin) is still running. If it works (or even if it almost works) there may still be a bit of room for fine tuning.
  15. Yeah I have to admit I'm at a bit of a loss here. Currently at least it seems like the Map file solution is at a bit of a deadend. Completely switching gears, it would be a fairly straightforward (if not a bit tedious) task to simply create a .bat file for each game, where the bat file would contain the command to start up the game itself. This is actually a pretty old trick for running PC games through GameEx. You could give this a shot: Create a a new directory for housing your bat file(s) (for the purposes of this example let's make it "I:\Games\BAT)Create a bat file for one game. Open notepad, and save a new file called "Metriod Prime 2 Echoes.bat" to your new directoryEnter the following command into your batch file and save it Dolphin.exe -e "I:\Games\G2ME01 Metriod Prime 2 Echoes\\game.iso"Create a new emulator entry in the GameEx setup wizard. The key entries here will contain the following: ROMFilter=*.bat RomPath=I:\Games\BAT WorkingPath=I:\Games\BAT Command="[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]"From there I think you could be off and running. It's been a while since I've done anything like this, but I can't remember any hidden gotchas. It may be worth a shot. If anything it will take your mind off of map files for a bit!
  16. Man it seems like you've tried just about everything. Who knows we may be dealing with a bug, but OTOH we are out on the edge of trying to hack additional functionality into the map file. Just out of curiosity, would you mind posting the contents of your emulator config as it stands currently?
  17. Ha! I was just typing up the same thing. I'm not too sure about the twin slashes now, but I'm definitely curious about the leading slash bit Uberpuber ... have you tried using a leading slash at the beginning of your directory path in the map file? \Metroid Prime 2 Echoes\game|Metroid Prime 2 Echoes You might also try with the twin slashes but if you do just remember you would need to replace both slashes with doubles.
  18. Hey just for the shiggles, would you try modifying an entry in your map file to look like this: Metroid Prime 2 Echoes\\game|Metroid Prime 2 Echoes And just to avoid confusion, yes I want you to put twin backslashes into the map file. I'm wondering if the behavior you're currently experiencing has to do with the way GameEx is parsing the directory string. In some DotNet languages when you create a Path variable from a path String you actually use twin slashes like that. The first slash is an escape character whereas the second one is actually the directory separator. Any hoo, give that a shot and post the contents of your runitgame.bat (or the debug mode output) again if it doesn't work. It might be a long shot but I'm genuinely curious about this one. If it gets you closer but still doesn't fully work, you may still need to add ".iso" to the end of the image your name as Dazzle suggested.
  19. I think most of the affected sites on that list recommending that users change their passwords are sites that were affected but have been (ostensibly) patched in the meantime. But yeah I mean you might be screwed either way really.
  20. Here's a pretty decent list of popular websites affected by the Heartbleed vulnerability. I believe it's being updated as more sites issue their status and whether or not they are/were affected. It's probably a good time to get out there and change some passwords! Be safe out there everybody! The Heartbleed Hit List: The Passwords You Need to Change Right Now
  21. Depending on whether you're still running PinballX as described here, I think it might be worthwhile to try the solution proposed by Draco right here. Certainly worth a shot at any rate.
  22. Well done man! I'm glad to hear that you resolved the issue to your satisfaction
  23. Nice work Riffman! Definitely some cool video editing going on there. Puts me in a mind to get my game on!
  24. Aaaaaaa! That's awesome! Thanks for posting Han! Goes without saying that I'm a pretty big Deadpool fan. Someone needs to put a ROM Hacker to work on making that game a reality!
  25. Hi Murve Sorry to hear about your map file woes! It might be helpful to turn on Debug Mode for one of the affected emulators to see what's going on. Based on your log I'm going to venture a guess that any error you see is generated from the emulator rather than GameEx itself. Debug mode will pause the batch executable screen so you can see any messages generated by the emulator. You can find the Debug Mode setting on the Advanced Emulator Setup screen in the Setup Wizard. Have a look at that and see if you can spot any obvious (or even subtle) flaws in the way the emulator command is being executed.
