If providing essential details about the problem you are experiencing seems like too much hassle, it speaks volumes about the amount of time and effort you yourself are willing to devote to solving your own problems.   3. Just out of curiosity, are you using the recommended codecs (i.e. Shark007) for PinballX? A lot of the reported video playback problems I've seen have been resolved by installing the recommended codec pack.
  4. Hi THX11 and Welcome to the PinballX forums! When reporting problematic behavior with PinballX please submit a copy of your log and your PinballX settings. These files are often very helpful in identifying any errors or erratic behavior you may be experiencing. Please refer to this thread for some instructions on how to access those files. Thanks a lot!

  6. As an update to this you can actually turn off the functionality to launch the debugger using the escape key from directly within BGB itself. While the emulator is running: Right Click > Options > Debug Tab > Uncheck the checkbox labeled: "pressing Esc shows debugger" Interestingly enough the checkbox in my version of BGB was still checked, and I don't believe I've encountered this particular issue. Your mileage may vary though, so lets hope that does the trick. Good luck Kents!

Just as a general heads up, I predict that the same thing will happen, but it is a good test to determine whether GameEx is somehow triggering unusual behavior when the emulator is launched from GameEx. This could be a possibility, but it doesn't seem like it would adversely affect the emulator upon launch (something like this would more likely affect the emulator upon exiting I should think). All the same, I'll double check my BGB config to see whether I'm using an alternate Advanced Emulator Config for the purposes of exiting the emulator.
  11. That's cool, that show will always be a favorite of mine! Back when MTV was relevant they aired shows like this, the early seasons of unplugged, etc., too bad they seemingly lost their way and went to reality, or whatever it is they show these days! Same here! I was exposed to The Young Ones early on through MTV and later through PBS broadcasts (oddly enough). For better or worse (and completely unintentionally) a few of my teenage years were more or less patterned on the character of Vyvyan. If anything at least Rick outlived Thatcher which likely would have pleased him (or at least his character in the Young Ones - I have no idea what Rik Mayall's actual political affiliations were)
  12. Your command line matches my working config for BGB so at the very least I think we can rule out a problem with the command line. The strange part is that the error message in your screen shot is a BGB error message (rather than a GameEx error message), which would seem to indicate that the problem resides with BGB. What happens if you start BGB via Run Last Game? Start Menu > Program Files > GameEx > Utilities> Run Last Game Just out of curiosity how are your ROMs structured? Are you running something like a GoodMerge set in which each .zip contains several versions of the same game? Or are you running something like a NoIntro set in which each .zip contains one (and only one) version of the game?

It looks like you have debug mode enabled for this emulator: This will trigger the behavior you describe here as it's intended to help you debug your commands in the event that you encounter difficulty. You can disable this setting on the Advanced Emulator Setup Screen in the Setup Wizard. Just change Debug Mode to No. Good luck man!
  14. Dude I'm probably just missing it, but I don't see any high score info on the various User CPs that I've looked at yet. OTOH I've not submitted any high scores either. Does it only show up when you're viewing your own User CP? Or maybe I need to refresh my browser cache? Lemme try that real quick ... Edit: No luck (which still could be indicative of my simply overlooking it - also entirely possible)
  15. This sort of speaks to the history of the forum. It used to be that we only had one thread dedicated to all arcade cabinet announcements, pictures, bragging rights, etc. Any time someone made a different dedicated thread for their own project we would merge it into the primary thread in the interest of keeping the forums nice and tidy (this legacy thread is what you see here). Later on when PinballX came on to the scene we did something similar there (archived here). Then the forum team got together and collectively said, "Hey we like drooling over pictures of cabinets and pincabs as much as the next guy! We should encourage users to post about their projects as much and as often as possible." The result of that decision is the sub-forum you see here (i.e. the Gamer Rigs sub-forum). So now that our philosophy has changed slightly we archived and locked the old single purpose threads, the goal being to encourage the creation of threads dedicated to single projects. Let one thousand flowers bloom! So there you go. TL;DR.
  16. Wow this is huge Rocky! I've not yet installed Pinball Arcade, but I know a number of users have been struggling with this very aspect. Thanks for contributing a possible solution!
  17. Blargh! Last night I had made it through A - H in restoring the Artist artwork in my Music Library. Then I noticed that V/A albums were no longer displaying tracks if I navigated to them via the individual artist. So I think to myself, "Hmm ... wonder if something went amiss during my initial migration to Gotham. Guess I'll update the library and see what happens." ... During the Library Update XBMC ate up all the work I had done on Artists A-H as if I had never even touched them. I'm back at square one again. FUUUUUUU .... The weird part about it is that it must have just been a bizarre hiccup or something. After it ate my artwork (again), I restored some of the Artist artwork (again), and subsequently updated my library a few more times to see if this was going to be a persistent problem. No issue whatsoever ... the artwork has been preserved during every other Library Update. WTF XBMC?!

  20. So last night I finally made the leap from Frodo to Gotham 13.1 (Stable) which released last week. So the big question - how did the update go? Well ... my first impression of my update experience is that it gets a solid B- . As I suspected I lost a ton of artist artwork from my music library. The only thing keeping my evaluation from falling lower into C/C- territory is that it did preserve most of my custom artwork for obscure artists. What I lost (seemingly en masse) was much the artwork I had previously scraped from external sources. So while my custom artwork would have been a loss I actually had most of that backed up. Not so with the scraped artwork, meaning I have to re-scrape a bunch of stuff from the internet. Ugh. This might actually take longer. At any rate, I haven't had a chance to test out most of the new features present in Gotham being that the rest of my evenings this week will likely be reserved for the reacquisition of my music library artwork. I'm sure my general feeling regarding Gotham will improve vastly once I get a chance to dig in, but for the time being I'm bogged down in what's become an increasingly predictable XBMC update slog. Oh XBMC, as awesome as you are, why must the terrible machinations of your release schedule be lubricated by my blood sweat and tears? (And thus ends today's episode of First World Problems as narrated by nullPointer)
  21. Here’s a fun fact. Doctor Who premiered on BBC1 clear back in November of 1963. Now, you may not be aware of this but we have our very own time lord right here on these forums. And our time lord predates even the venerable Doctor himself! Much like that other time lord, ours is exceedingly clever, humorous, enigmatic, and travels through time and space on a regular basis (although in only one direction and angular variations of six respectively). That other guy might have a TARDIS. But our time lord is a TARDIS (Totally Awesome Relatable Dude In SunnyFlorida). OK … yes that last bit sort of got away from me. Fine. I never said that I was a exceedingly clever you know … And today, our time lord goes through his very own annual regeneration. Will he look different? Is he gorging himself on fish fingers in custard right now? We can only hope so. At any rate I hope you will all join in and send your birthday messages through the portal of time and space known as the internet to wish our time lord a very special regeneration birthday! Happy Birthday Draco! Allons-Y!

It may be that Flashes list contains only "known good developers/publishers" from databases that have been updated to current standards (vs. old legacy databases that have yet to be updated). Flash can probably fill us in a bit more on that front. Check your PMs (in a sec at any rate ... )
  23. Here's one that's completely mental (and thus I like it quite a bit ... ) Final Fantasy (NES) Goal: Defeat Garland with a party consisting entirely of White Mages. Clarification in spoiler tag (which actually does contain a potential plot spoiler for this game in the event that you've never played it - what's wrong with you? ) Scoring: Scoring will be based on the highest percentage of remaining hit points across all party members
  24. In the process of database improvement there was a lot or effort put into de-duping publishers and developers. I don't know whether that would have reduced the total number by a factor of 3 but it could be within the realm of possibility. Also I think the list for the logo project consists of a flattened list of publishers and developers whereas the database structure currently does make a distinction between the two. So yes the publisher and developer are separate attributes for each game. One relevant example I can think of to represent this is MegaMan 6 released on the NES. It was developed by Capcom but published by Nintendo. That's just one example but I'm sure there are dozens (upon dozens) more. Also remember that the databases are currently in a state of flux being that they are still receiving regular updates and whatnot. I would anticipate the number of publishers and developers seen in the databases will continue to grow as more and more databases are marked as being complete.
