  1. I will add the log file and .ini file after I post this (using my main desktop to write this). I have been using PBX and Gameex with PinballDatabase Manager to play Future Pinball tables, exclusively at this point (mostly because the VP and FX2 and FX3 aren't working correctly and I'm content with FP for now. With MUCH help from Scutters, I've finally got things running smoothly, but one issue remains, and I've searched not only this forum, but everywhere else I can think of and have not found anything. I think part of the problem is that my issue deals with the backglass image ONLY while in the PinballX menu. Only a handful of games currently have ANY image, but even the default PBX screen shows up much smaller than my 800X600 backglass monitor and in the upper righthand corner. I've checked and REchecked every display setting that I could find (the FP folder, PBX settings, etc.) and they all look correct. Even more puzzling is that the backglass images are sized correctly in the games, so it's JUST the PBX frontend that is having a problem finding the correct settings (or more aptly put, I am having a problem finding a way to tell PBX where to look for those settings ). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  2. SOLVED!!! (again, the devil is in the details!). I had two FP/Bam folders on this drive (the old folder is in the Pinball Emporium folder, so I compared the contents of each, and SHOCKER - I had almost NOTHING in the new Library folder, NO scripts folder, and several other minor files that I copied over, and wouldn't you know it - WORKING PERFECTLY!!!! Scutters, you're my HERO, dude! Thank you for working through this with me! I know that saying "I sincerely appreciate it" sounds a bit trite, but I assure you, I do, SINCERELY, appreciate your help.
  3. Interesting development - I went back into fploader and tried the two games in question and it threw maybe ten or more error boxes at me about various missing fpl files. I know these are library files, so I'm unsure of why they are calling for these when the tables in question came only with the fpt file. Either way, this IS the issue, as it recreated the sound and series of sounds from the error pop ups that I was unable to see when running through PBX. Perhaps I changed things when I connected to the ftp to search for missing files? Or maybe the switch from the pinballx game manager to the database manager didn't carry over somehow? Though I'm still kind of lost, I CAN see light through the trees, lol.
  4. Sorry, as I mentioned above, I was on a different computer due to the mouse making things nearly impossible to navigate on the pinball pc. I've gotten my mouse back (for now) and will attach the files. The two games that were a problem were Ghostbusters and Road Girls. log.txt PinballX.ini SetupWizard.log XDMDlog.txt
  5. Thank you Scutters! I've actually read that entire pdf file back a couple of months ago (absolutely INCREDIBLE job he did with that, by the way) but was only focused on my issues at the time, so I will definitely give it another read through. My other issue is that I don't yet know all the terminology or how it fits together. For instance, I have now heard of pinup player, but have never installed it as a standalone program, and if it IS part of what I'm using now I have been unaware of it. Pinevent... I am assuming that is a program designed to handle specific game builds, but that's just a guess. Until today (and your link) I have not seen ANY real explanation of what that even is. Searching through forums (which has been my "go to" move for various questions) almost always uses that searched word already in context, but no explanation of the context (sorry if that doesn't make any sense - I tend to type like I talk - be GLAD we're not having this conversation in person, LOL). Anyway, I'm gonna read back through the mega guide again and install pinevent V2 and see where that takes me Thank you for hanging in there with me.
  6. I would have attached the log and ini files but I am on a different computer because I have no mouse (well, a tiny black dot that I constantly lose track of). I have maybe fifty Future Pinball games in my tables file, and though I've played most of them (usually through fploader), I have only played a handful through PinballX (I finally made the switch from Pinball Emporium ). I'm not sure what is causing the disruption, but on at least two of the tables, when I hit the button to load the game (I'm using a two monitor cabinet by the way, sorry for not mentioning it sooner), the playfield screen turns black and I get a windows error noise (which I feel sure is accompanied by an error pop up window that I can't see). Absolutely nothing I try on the keyboard will bring the playfield screen back to a windows setting though I can access the menu with the windows key and task manager, both of which I have used to restart the computer. Everything comes back up fine after reboot EXCEPT the mouse. Well, it IS there, but it's that tiny black dot again. I don't recall what I did both times to finally get a pointer back, but I eventually did after several restarts and trying different things. I feel fairly confident that this is some setting in PinballX that is meant to make the pointer all but disappear so that it isn't there and obnoxiously in the way while you're playing a game. When it crashes like this, I think that program is still telling the mouse to stay mostly hidden. I did manage to look at the log file the first time it happened and it basically showed no issues down to the last entry which was saying that it was starting the particular game that crashed (it's the line that ends in "STAYINRAM"). I know of at least two games that I have that cause this crash (both seem to be newer tables with possibly some extras, as opposed to the single fpt file). I've got a strong graphics card, lots of ram, an i7 processor, so none of that should be a problem. I honestly think there's some additional file with these games that is causing PinballX to spit it out, but the file that ghosts the pointer seems to stay in memory. Sorry that this sounds so jumbled.
  7. Well, I've sprung an entirely NEW problem and it's a pretty tough one. In PBX if I choose certain games (they seem to be the fancier games, so I suspect lots of extras) and try to run the table, the playfield screen goes black and makes the windows error noise (presumably there is a pop up window but I never am able to see it). The mouse goes dead, and the only thing I can do is either windows key/tab to restart, or task manager/tab to restart, and when I do, the mouse comes back as a tiny black dot. I've disabled Joy2Key, Pinball Emporium, and just about any other startup process that looks like it might be the cause, but it now does no good. When I initially disabled Joy2Key and Pinball Emporium, then restarted, my mouse came back like normal. As soon as I tried a different game that it didn't like, the mouse was gone again. I should point out that I did run and play another game before this happened the second time. I've looked at the log and the last entry is just showing that the game in question started (or was trying to start) - had this in the last entry. /open "[TABLEPATH]\[TABLEFILE]" /play /exit /arcaderender /STAYINRAM
  8. I downloaded the Database Manager and LOVE it! Though I definitely do need to read the manual, lol. When you say "drag the DMD in the FP editor" I'm not sure which editor you mean. The "Q" when the game is running is the Bam editor I think, then there's the FP preferences, and the Gameex settings. I've looked through those all pretty thoroughly and it's likely that they might be using terminology that I recognize??
  9. That allowed me to save the table settings when I exited the game and it appears to have transferred to the other FP games as well! Allllll that frustration over a single "space", lol. Thank you SO MUCH! Now onto hurdles number two and three - the DMD still being stuck in the upper lefthand corner of the playfield (and I've unchecked every box I could find that said "Enable DMD") and figuring out why I can't get in the various missing pieces of the tables through the Gameex ftp. I have it set correctly (paid version on port21) and it's connected, but I'm still missing something. I did the "import all" and it did find a handful of playfield screens (or whatever they refer to the image at the left side of each game) but nothing else. I've tried connecting to deeper folders on the ftp site within the future pinball folder, but it makes no difference. I used to do a LOT with ftp sites many, MANY years ago (I used to design websites in the early days when Netscape was the big dog in town, lol). Most of that knowledge has gone by the wayside and navigating the ftp program is super rusty for me. So I'm hoping it's some minor thing I might be missing. You have been an IMMEASURABLE help on this, and I won't bother you with every little thing from here. I sure do appreciate you taking your time to work with me and get this thing working correctly!
  10. Hello, and thank you SO much for replying! I have attached the files (and realize I SHOULD have done that right from the start, sorry). I don't recall seeing anything about a HUD setting but I will definitely look again. I'm hoping that the attached files will shed some light on what might be causing this frustrating issue. Thanks again, seriously (I've been refreshing about every five minutes since I posted just in case someone saw it an answered, lol) log.txt PinballX.ini
  11. Friends, I'm kinda new here, but I've been fighting with this VP cabinet for a month or so, and finally switched PCs (to a much more powerful pc and graphics card) and though I have Pinball Emporium installed, I've decided on PinballX for my cabinet. Here's the short of it - Future Pinball works perfectly when I run it from fploader. When I run the same table(s) through PBX the playfield is far too narrow, it has the DMD on the upper left of the playfield and the backbox is, like the playfield, too narrow. Sorry, I should have mentioned that I am running two monitors (Playfield and backbox). I hit Q and resized everything while the game was up and running, tried saving it in various ways (as default, etc.) but nothing I do seems to keep it from loading back up with the sizes wrong and that pesky DMD. I have gone through the display settings in Bam, FP and the setting program for PinballX countless times. I've read and read and READ through various similar issues and tried their fixes to no avail. I made sure that my setting were identical to the settings that Terry Redd posted in his link in this same forum(I think that was his name, sorry if I got that wrong, I know he's a VIP here, as he should be!) but still no dice. I've changed the DPI scaling options on both the pinballX exe files and fploader exe files and again, no luck. I know I'm missing something but I've run out of places to look, boxes to check/uncheck and I'm completely out of ideas as to where to even LOOK. Any help would be SO greatly appreciated.
