That should certainly help the less tech savvy users on their way to emu heaven One tiny thing - in the rom manager section you put "for MAME" in brackets then mention RomCenter as your golden choice, but infact RomCenter is useful for many systems not just MAME and it may give users (especially newbies) the impression that MAME is all it is good for. Great quickfire guide though! Love it.

If that's the case, could you not alter the .ini while it is in memory? That way you could do it on-the-fly and leave the original untouched. Just an idea, feel free to shatter it i just have ideas, i'm not a coder

I turn into a raging maniac without nicotine - which just isn't me and it scares me It's also the lifestyle change that ruins my attempts everytime - i like a beer! A few days and you hit the 1 week mark? They say it gets easier from that point so good luck buddy.

You may want to try GameBase. I don't know what Tom did to integrate it but it works, and it works well! You'll still need an emulator and i use WinVICE myself - i don't have half the problems you have. Just saying See, this is what the world is lacking these days, real people willing to help real people in real time. Respect

Hmmm curious. Would you mind posting some of your PC specs? Like OS, GPU, CPU etc. Admittedly i'm not an expert in this kind of thing but your specs may help in finding a cause. You can confirm that the same thing does not happen with games that do not and never did have a 3D cab file? You can enlarge the media of these games? On a side note, have you performed an "Update List" since you made any MAME changes?

Hi repetto, I don't use CCS64 but i do know that some emulators can set a default rom to load and so i'm wondering if CCS64 has such an option? Something with to do with a default cartridge that has been set by the emu itself? It's just an idea that popped in my head, so sorry if i'm way off the mark

Good job in narrowing it down to games that have a 3D cab file. In that case, and because you have just done a OS re-install, a few reminders: Is your DirectX up to date? Are your GPU drivers up to date? And do you have the necessary .NET Frameworks installed?

Hi kannadav, If you've recently done a system wipe then you may want to ensure you have reinstalled shark007's codecs. It really does solve a lot of video problems

I just sent you a PM that i started an hour ago, i had to leave quick so saved it and sent just now. Its just a quick n dirty guide which is why i PM'ed it. @Macguvyer a userfriendly guide would be a great addition to the forum! As i'm sure you are aware Gamebase, as awesome as it is, isn't as straight forward as it possibly should be, and lack of documentation doesn't help.

Hi there Adultery, Sir, May i bother you with something? With the recent wave of GameBase threads i got an itch and decided to reinstall GB64 and got all excited as the last time i had it running we didn't have your awseomesauce plugin of an XPadder nature I was all like "yes! map all teh possible keys on all teh possible sets so can run C64 with no kb! woowoo" but then i loaded the plugin and doh! No gamebase support :teardrop: I know you're on some sort of rampaging release frenzy atm (good job btw! ) but when the dust has settled, would it be possible for you to take a peek at adding GB support? Of course i'll take no offence if you tell me to "politely fly away"

Hi GC, I had a similar problem with the videos when Steam integration was all new and sparkley Turns out although the .flv's were playing outside of GE, they wouldn't work in GE until i installed sharks codecs, which solved all my problems and off i bounced Granted your problem may be completely unrelated, but a heads up can't hurt. Yeah great idea GC! I already want DustForce after reading null's post looks awesome and wasn't even aware of it. Most of the games i own have already been mentioned, here are the few left that i also think will work well in a cab/HTPC environment: Beat Hazard - Is a Dual/Twin-Stick shoot-em-up that uses your own music to generate the enemies and your bullets! Collecting Volume power-ups increases the volume and therefore the "loudness" on screen. Quite a unique game and one of my faves! Blocks that Matter - A puzzle platformer involving blocks. No, really! It's actually a lot more addictive than it sounds and rather challenging too. If you like your brain being taxed while avoiding enemies platform styly this one is for you. eXceed 2nd: Vampire REX - A polarity shmup (ala Ikaruga) and a hectic one at that. If you were a Ikaruga fan you'll love this. Guaranteed. eXceed 3rd: Jade Penetrate Black - Probably the best commercially released JP-Bullet-Hell shmup i've played. It has it all - tight controls, lock-on, infinite homing missile style attack, bombs, extra satellite "ships". Only one game on this planet beats it IMO and it's not commercially available. Hitogata Happa - Anime style vertical shmup. Big, bright and cheerfull. Till you start playing - the hardest shmup i've played? Probably. Rhythm Zone - One of them rhythm/beat games that can use your own music collection and has the nice bonus of periodically adding songs from upcoming indie bands, helping you discover new music as you play. All for it! Shatter - It's a ball-and-paddle game but how best to describe it? OK, Arkanoid v9000 with crazy boss fights and an orientation problem. Gravity alteration device included! Seriously love this game! (Ignore the "partial controller support" on store page - i can access every feature with my 360 pad, infact i've never needed anything else so not sure why it's stated as partial) Sine Mora - A very modern, western style shoot em up. Unique power up system, beautiful graphics and tons of unlockables! Actually has a story line and radio chatter that makes you really lol! Check it out.
