Hi realguy and welcome to the forums! This is most likely happening because of another program starting and grabbing focus after GameEx has already started. Try Adultery's GameEx Launch. The program allows you to specify a delay before GameEx launches, giving your other programs/processes enough time to launch and do their thing and not steal focus from GameEx Good luck!

Yeah i don't know why they ruined it like that - probably to get on the multiplayer moneytrain. The 1st is a shooter too, but it feels a necessity to have a gun in your hand given the situation you've been thrown into, rather than the main focus and training for multiplayer. If you do go for it make sure you play with the sound up - you will hear some freaky sh...

To be honest i only played about an hour of the 1st sequel - they completely changed the genre for some (probably) crazy reason. As far as i could tell in the little i played it became more of an action-shooter with gouls thrown in, rather than an atmospheric horror that the original was. Don't let that put you off though! The 1st one is a great stand alone title with a unique, almost movie style method of bringing on the goosebumps and tension. There are some great in-your-face moments in it but it's what you see (or think you see) in the corner of your eye that gets your heart pumping In my opinion it's one of the "must try before you die" games, infact when i sold my xbox it was one of 3 that i couldn't part with. Oh and i like what you did there "almost forgot about the Amnesia games"

Hi repetto, I've never used MESS myself, but if it is at all like MAME then your romset will need to be named to match the version of MESS you are using. The reason it is spewing you that list it because it doesn't recognise "BERZERK" as a valid rom, therefore it shows you a list of what you might be trying to load. As you can see "berzerk" is there as a valid entry. Unfortunately as yours is capitalised it is just as unrecognisable as if it was called "IAMNOTAVALIDROM". Is your romset the same version as your MESS? For example if you're using MESS 0.150 then you will need version 0.150 of the romset. If you are sure this is the case then you can use a rom manager such as RomCenter to rename your roms. If you want to test it, just rename "BERZERK" to "berzerk" and try launching again. If it works then you will need to rename your whole set. EDIT - i see you say it works through MessUI? Hmmm ok, you have double checked your paths? If so could you humor me and still try renaming BERZERK as mentioned?

Amnesia: The Dark Descent looks right up my street as an atmospheric horror and i've wanted it for a long time! I will get it one day, but the reason i mention it is because the supposedly even scarier sequel was recently released: Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. They could be a great couple of games to keep you busy through the winter months. Although it's aging a bit now i will always bring this up when the question arises - the original F.E.A.R! This game has some of the jumpiest, creepiest moments i've ever experienced in a game. Be warned though you have to be very alert and observant to get the most out of it - if you're the type of person who ploughs through games, not paying close attention to what is happening around you then you will miss a lot of what the game is good at - messing with your head. If however you like to get into games on a deep level, and like to explore every nook and cranny then this game will give you genuine shivers, real "OMGWTF" moments and extreme panic. I highly recommend it

Alpha is correct, it is in Enable/Disable Features (Check screenshot). Once you are sure it is not hidden, load GameEx, go to MAME section and scroll to the bottom. Hit Update List and prepare to wait a while You only need to do this once, unless you make any changes to your rom set in the future.

It is strange indeed - even when logged in as the root admin account it wouldn't read HiScore.xml. Something weird is happening to the permissions between your PC and mine.

OK that seemed to work! I manually renamed it as you said, i loaded Batsugun and it didn't let me take a snap! This is strange though, because i'm being 100% truthful here - until this i've never once had permissions issues, i have admin rights. Maybe the w7/8 permissions from your machine are somehow carrying over to mine?? Attached a screenie using your latest build (v1.0.5020.40851) That's absolutely fine - it takes me literally 5 seconds to load GIMP and scale it down The only reason i do this is because i realise some people may be using lower resolutions than 1080p and not really because of file size. 1944 using new version: -EDIT- I tried 1943 ( a non-HiScore game) to see if your plugin was disabled, but it still worked - apologies if you hadn't gotten round to implimenting the new way of checking yet. YES! we have lift off I won't be able to trim my screenies anymore though - my screen grabs @ 1920x1080, before i was scaling them down then trimming the edges, it may not be a bad thing though as it covers less game screen that way! Check it:

Yeh this is my regular PC as well as gaming rig - kb is always attatched. I can confirm Home is working - it selects all text up to the cursor when i shift+home. Also yes i manually added the ddraw switch just incase.
