Hey man, One thing about your issue is bouncing around my head - that you built your theme in W7, and you get trouble when moving to your XP machine. I don't know if there is any substance to this (i only recently upgraded from XP to W7 myself) but maybe there are some permissions being set on your W7 machine that are causing problems on your XP machine? The reason i'm thinking that is because i had some trouble awhile back, when helping Adultery test his HiScore plugin. For some reason, my XP PC absolutely refused to alter a key file that he created on his W7 machine. This lead me to believe that there were permissions on this file that XP didn't understand (after all, they have gotten more complex between OS's). Adultery ultimately changed his plugin to solve the issue but i wonder if something similar is happening here with your images?

Hi Mame8080 I think this will be solved by installing the correct codecs. I know there is a stigma behind codec packs, but the majority of us swear by Shark007's pack, and believe me that we don't recommend anything unless it has proven it's worth, and many many of us have installed them with zero conflicts and perfect results everytime. It's literally the 1st thing i do after a fresh OS install these days - they are that good. to quote nullPointer: EDIT - If it's just MAME not showing vids you need to set the correct path: 09:39:53.8 1/8/2014: AVI Snap Path: Not Found

I had this exact same problem yesterday when i updated from 150 and after much troubleshooting it turned out to be an error in the latest history.dat. In the description for CarnEvil there is an invalid character, which halts the update process at said game. In the description there is this: [shotgun|shotguns] - the blue character is the invalid one. I changed it to this: [shotgun or shotguns] updated MAME list and all is back to normal. You may manually change it yourself or just grab my edited version I take no credit for the fix - it was actually discovered by Rychem28 in this thread. history.zip

Grats man glad you got it all sorted out! I believe helpman included his .PSD files so you could load it into an image editor - say GIMP for example, make the scanline layer invisible and save over the top of the relevant overlay/foreground Do that a few times and you'll have your own version with no scanlines

Hi Beaps, Something you mentioned in your other thread sparked an idea - you mentioned marquees while playing? This means your games are most likely using layout files (these are needed to display artwork elements in the correct position for each game) and if i'm not mistaken these layout files also include a set resolution for each game, thus overriding any settings you alter in respect to resolution/orientation. So, ill give you 2 options to try (do either of these - both at the same time are not rquired): 1) Open MAME.ini (found in your mame directory) and find the Artwork section. Change it as per the following: ## CORE ARTWORK OPTIONS#artwork_crop 0use_backdrops 0use_overlays 0use_bezels 0use_cpanels 0use_marquees 02) Delete all artwork paths form GameEx MAME Settings apart from Snap/Video Snap/Title. This method is not ideal as you won't be able to see all the lovely artwork in the gameinfo screens. I would go for option 1 for reasons specified - i only really gave you option 2 incase you have uncontrollable .iniphobia like some people do

As Han said i can't believe they took THAT amount of money for submissions (ludicrous if you ask me) only to essentially steal them records from the very people who basically paid for the leaderboards. Hi, and welcome to the forums. I had a quick scan at your log there (it was a very quick scan) and as far as i can see there is nothing setup - everything is invalid and TBH it's not a good way to test out GameEx at all. I'm not sure what you intended to test out with such a blank system, and would also query where you put the singular rom, and if GameEx is even configured to look for it in the right place. That being said, i don't think GE will even attempt to update the MAME list if you didn't configure something. In all honesty i would test it on a machine that is populated already with emulators and roms first, to get a true idea of what GameEx's purpose is

Unfortunately it seems you cannot enable it per emulator. But if you wanted to give it a try, to see if it works for you it is in Tweaks/Performance, under Snap Best Match
