Already thought of that only one path and one shinobi. I wanted to take a look at list.xml to see if anything funky in there but can't (so far) find anything that will open it (too big) EDIT - i should have done this first (i haven't been awake long. that's my excuse and i'm sticking to it ) but i just loaded the All Games list and sure enough - it's there twice! WTH is going on with my set lol
-
ARRRGH. Just for giggles i created a new list with one entry: [FOLDER_SETTINGS]RootFolderIcon = cust1.icoSubFolderIcon = cust2.ico[Only-Wan-Shinobi]shinobiand i still get TWO of them! driving me nuts!
-
Sure thing, you mean a new line like this? [FOLDER_SETTINGS]RootFolderIcon = cust1.icoSubFolderIcon = cust2.ico[High Score Games]1944arkanoidOr do you literally mean a space after ] ? [FOLDER_SETTINGS]RootFolderIcon = cust1.icoSubFolderIcon = cust2.ico[High Score Games] <-right here1944arkanoidEDIT - OK, the new line sorted the 1944 problem! Waheyyyy. But i still have 2 Shinobi's LOL. Not much of a problem as they are all there (i have 27 entries instead of 26) it's just bugging me that i have em x2. Maybe ma pc thinks i don't have enough Ninja in my life! Which ain't true coz i been getting plenty-o-ninja recently!

(may be related) I just updated GE and got my 1st hiccup in years involving HideOS too. After i ran MAME, i quit game and ESC exited GameEx. I thought at first my system had froze (nothing but a black screen) but i opened task manager and sure enough HideOS was till running. It took roughly 20 seconds to exit itself. I'm gonna have a tinker to see if it is persistent.

Ok thanks a lot man! A problem has never quite made me so.. dizzy

[FOLDER_SETTINGS]RootFolderIcon = cust1.icoSubFolderIcon = cust2.ico[High Score Games]1944arkanoidbloodbrobtimebublboblcentipedcyverndkongdkong3dkongjrgalagajoustmariomrdomslugnitrobalpangpopeyeqbertrtyperygarshinobitappertimeplttoobinwb3 Yeah, it's in my MAME section with all the other categories i have enabled, it all works perfectly except for the missing 1944 and Shinobi twice. As mentioned i created my own .ini (with a different category name) with the exact same results. I know it's using your INI and not mine because mine was called "GE HiScore Comp". This makes me believe something funky is going on with my system - afterall how could BOTH .ini's produce this?! Why is it always me!

Loving this! However i have hit a snag - I'm getting Shinobi listed twice, with 1944 totally missing (I'm using the MAMEUI method) I know it's not your .ini because before i tried your version i had actually created my own, with exactly the same results! I came here and downloaded yours because i thought maybe I had screwed something up but i get the same results with yours too. Weird huh! I can asure you 1944 is present, it's there and playable in the All Games list. Also both Shinobi entries launch Shinobi. I absolutely updated the gamelist - i even did it again just before this post to make doubley sure. Can't figure this one out man. I can almost feel brain cells melting thinking about it lol Anyone got any snippets of info stored in the back of their heads that might explain this behaviour?

I kind of did that deliberately, so you would use your initiative. It's the best weapon you have if your are going to persue emulation If you want more clicky. Anything else you need just holla

Congrats to you and your newborn btw but... Man you have missed much! Adultery has been on some sort of plugin massacre lately! You are aware of the HighScore Comp? - he got working DB's for Han/GC, from that there is an RSS feed (easily worked in to themes, so people around the world can see our scores), he got individual(!) Steam AND MAME games working with Xpadder now (HELLYEAH!), and probably the most insane GameInfo update you've ever seen (PS to Adultery, it made me secure a second screen!lol). Good to have you back MNMax but you gotta get on this!

Dude! tell me! i got my key, but tbh i didn't bother coz i lost interest since they announced they're going the subscription route. BUT, i guess it depends on the sub-plan they choose. You think it's worth downloading? Coz i been waiting for ES:Multiplayer since Morrowind should i just play the beta anyways or will it torture me when they go live and i have to dip-out? I can't afford a sub no way. My plan was to wait one year until they realise it's wrong and go F2P like the rest, then jump in

That's awesome man thanks for the heads-up! You know, i learned to live without MAWS - i just accepted over time that it was gone. Now that i see this i wonder why it isn't just exploded all over the interwebs! I thought it was lost forever. You wouldn't believe how many times MAWS reunited me with faded memories. Damn.

All the best man, make sure you have one for me! Don't ruin yourself though - with all the sweet contributions you have been knocking out lately we want you back for another year!

Hi Yaodi and welcome to the forums! There are a couple of ways to bypass launchers (workaround is more accurate of a term) in GameEx. The first and arguably the simplest is to use the Keys To Send option. This can be found in Advanced Emulator Setup. Using this option you just tell what key to send after launching. For instance if your launcher loads, and all you need to do is press Enter on your keyboard, then that would be the key to send. You may also find that Wait Before Keys is useful using this method. What this will do is wait for a time you set (in milliseconds) before sending the key. So, lets say typically the launcher takes 3 seconds to load, after which you press Enter to load the game. We tell GameEx to wait 3 seconds (3000 milliseconds) then send the Enter key: Wait Before Keys: 3000 Keys To Send: ENTER Another way would be to use mapping software to map the keys you need to your controls. This way you can just press a button combo etc on your pad/buttons to remove any need for a keyboard. In that regard i would recommend Xpadder. Our Plugin guru Adultery, has developed a plugin that makes using Xpadder an absolute breeze to use with GameEx and comes highly recommended personally by me, and many others here. Another option if it is for a specific game, is to use a built in switch using the command line that is designed purposely to bypass the launcher entirely. This will depend entirely on the game itself though, and whether the devs of said game included such options. Whichever method you choose or whatever game you need to get running - we will help

Although i don't know you GreatFlash personally, you are a Hero when it comes to GE. Without your databases GE would literally be missing an arm and i would like to give some recognition to that! You do what you do and you never ask for praise, or glory (maybe in the DB forum you do ), you just get on with it. Much respect and Happy Birthday man, hope it was a goodun!

Also to get the most out of GameEx's wonderous MAME features you will need the support files for your particular version (.151). MAMEinfo.dat catver.ini history.dat command.dat controls.ini nplayers.ini (none of these are essential, but will enhance your experience greatly) It's important the version of these files match your romset, and most of all that your MAME version matches your romset! In other words - if you have .151 romset, it's crucial you have a working .151 MAME executable. Once that is determined to be true then you can experience MAME to its fullest using the (.151) support files listed above

That is one mental list starbuck if anything truely warrants a *nerdgasm* it's that!
-
i think your idea is brilliant Adultery, and wouldn't necessarily be tied to the HS Comp. You could make all sorts of crazy lists for your self if it could be made that easy! Like "Top 10 games where a mushroom is present but isn't a Mario game"
-
This is a great idea Han! I've been making a separate MAME set just for HiScore roms, using RomCenter but i like the simplicity of using a map file. I'm also a bit uneducated as to what a Mame32 list is, would someone care to explain for us lesser enlightened folk? EDIT - ninja'd by Adultery ok so now i understand, but would that mean we would need MAMEUI aswell as our regular MAME installs, and can we compile it ourselves with the options we oh so like very much
-
What commandments? I'm looking at my list... nope it's not there
-
C'mon dude, of all the gods that exist in these modern times, above all, Adultery is what i wish for the most

No worries, although i have never released any to the public (i have issues), i have much experience with themes, and i am sure once the new GE arrives people will do all they can to assist previous theme makers to convert i know for sure i want to dig in to that aspect straight off! and i'll lend a hand, or maybe even make some guides along the way. Who knows. I think i speak for most people when i say WE WANT EVO! <-see, it works
-
Thanks for the support! But i doubt it - have you seen the guys @ the other sites?! - they take their stuff very seriously so i doubt they'll let a casual GE user ruin their day but i intend to do just that nonetheless props to you too my man - let's put up a good fight!

I dunno what happened there, but i took a screenie when i was entering my name, and somehow effed it up in between lol! Don't ask coz i have no explanation Enter name is "DAZ" and actual name is "DAY" go figure. Score: 1,219,120 Initials: DAY<- lol
