  1. @Adultery -Not sure but have there been any changes with the way the themes cache is handled? Odd that a theme that had not been changed and was working fine would start going wonky following an interim update and only within one emulator. @Mesk - Have you tried running MAME as an emulator and, if so, did you get the same response? If not, can you try doing so to see if, as an emulator, the issue still occurs. My thought is that it should not if run as an emulator.
  2. Sorry to hear that but like I noted, if he had any interest in maintaining this derivative beyond 0.125 he would have done so. It is safe to say that he has moved on and does not appear that other than looking at what he has suggested that there is much more you or anyone can do.
  3. Tom - could a malformed .avi file possibly cause issues when attempting to load? If this file is removed or replaced, would be interesting to see if the issue resolves. I know that he had been recently converting files from FLV to AVI (not sure if this was one the files he had recently converted, however) but I think it worth a shot.
  4. Using the Advanced Configuration utility, go to Display settings, click Next Page, and 3rd entry from the top. Select No a for Display 16 Bit colour, then click Save. The other place to check is in you Display settings for Windows to make sure that 32-bit color is selected.
  5. under \gamex\data - all files with cache in the file name.
  6. Hmmm.. if you optimize a brain that is abnormal, do the abnormalities not become enhanced? On a more serious note, have you cleared out your cache, etc? Another suggestion might be to download the latest version and install it to overwrite the dbs for the systems.
  7. Can you post a full copy of your log file? Thanks!
  8. You needed to read further to get to the correct link - try here.
  9. +1 for that idea, Krake!

Perfect! Thanks for the detailed setup info. Perhaps we can get this "Pinned" in the other forum for future reference. As many of the newer PCs are better capable of running virutualization, it may be a good reference for some.
  11. This sounds like an Xpadder question to me. Adultery and a few of the others are the real pros with using it so I will defer to them.
  12. Not bad through-put if you drop it by a third! Glad x64 Win 7 is working out as expected!

I don't know that he wants the "Wheel of Fortune" functionality in this FE. Of course, if he does decide to make it happen, can he promise us Pippa Middleton to "turn our letters" for us? If not, then I say stay the course and not imitate!
  14. SInce I have a lifetime license to GEX, could I get one to EmuMovies instead? A year? Provided I win, of course.. lol.
  15. Could be. Have you tried a system restore to see if this might resolve the issue?

First, I think the request was sincere, if not a bit misguided. Let's not turn this into a potential flame war because we love this FE above the rest. Each of us has been given a pass or two for our own posting gaffs here at one time or another. My take is that he wants to be able to run both but not one through the other. As for porting over themes from one FE to another - Yes, it can be done, but by the time you adapt the theme to the function it isn't going to be quite the same. Besides, why would I want a cartoony joystick on my screen when I will have one on my deck? The spinner selection is nice, but not replicable in GameEx. If it were, then this would be a Hyperspin forum, eh?
  17. Nah, I think I will settle for a little anarchy and chaos! Keeps thinks interesting!
  18. You may need to confirm via your PC display setup what the minimum range is for the graphics card. Most newer support a minimum of 800x600. Try that resolution and see if the problem resolves along with reinstalling D3D.
  19. jpg and png are well supported. You may need to go into the Advanced Configuration for your emulators and "browse" to the logo file in question. You may want to post a copy of your gameex.ini file (zip it then upload to your reply) so that we can review your setup.

    VirtualBox

Where? As an Emulator or as an External Application? Where is the Advanced Config file to VirtualBox located? Where was it added in GameEx? Not trying to bust your chops (well, actually I am! LOL!) but if you wouldn't mind maybe providing more step-by-step detail for future reference that all interested can use should they decide to use this program. Not everyone is experienced and assume your audience is all n00bs when you provide instruction will help to avoid quite as many questions later! I think that using a virtualized environment, while not always the best for running all games, is a great way to provide protection to your system. Provided you make regular backups of your virtual environment, many of the VM products allow for restoring from backups (this varies by product with ease and process). Great if you want to add an additional layer to surfing the web (if virtualized session is protected by anitvirus and antimalware software) but should become compromised. You can often kill it, restore from back-up, and be able to go once again as if nothing happened! Thanks!

Welcome to the GameEx forums! As noted, we cannot lend our expertise to your request as we support GameEx Frontend and HTPC software. You can find some MAME Setup info here on the Hyperspin site. As noted, you would be best served by registering for the Hyperspin forums if you do not have any luck following the instructions at the link provided. Good luck!
  22. Some more suggestions for themes (most based on video games, movies or TV - where I spent most of my youth and a great part of my adulthood or second childhood according to my wife). The list is mainly those that included some sort of computer interfaces/displays that could be creatively adapted for theme use. A short list: Space 1999, Star Trek, Star Wars, The Last Starfighter, Dune, Tron (Original and Legacy), Wing Commander, Enemy Mine, War Games, Close Encounters, Iron Man, Transformers, Batman, Apollo 13.
  23. Is there any way to get past the 10 attachment limit?

OK so you are running it as an HTPC - have you considered linking directly from within MCE instead of GameEx? That might not be preferable but, depending on how you are trying to launch it from within GameEx, it may be the better alternative if we can't figure out a way for you to get it running launching through GameEx (and I think it is doable!).

Have you tried running it as a an external app invoking the exe file directly instead of through a link file?
