  1. Within pinballx.ini there are entries where the last game and system is set. You can create a small program that sets those entries when starting/closing PinballX. This will show your table everytime when PinballX is starting. Not out of the box, but do-able
  2. As I said, you need to be creative if you got 4 buttons. I should setup in pbx: 1 button to select 1 button to exit pbx/exit emulator 1 button to quick launch Than you can navigate completly In vpx 1 button to add coin 1 button to start game 1 button to use plunger And you already assigned a button in pbx to exit emulator
  3. Odd. I always shutdown the cab like that. I removed the exit PBX and only have shutdown and cancel. Can you try to run PBX as admin and try the shutdown ? Please post a logfile after you hit shutdown and pbx is clossd, instead of shutting down the os.
  4. The esc key in pbx, should also be used to exit the emulator. Not changing q to esc, but setting up in pbx. All my emulators in pbx closes, pressing on tbe exit button. So 1 button to close the close the emulator and hitting tbat button again to close pbx as well. I run pbx as admin, so I'm sure it can terminates the process. My select button in PBX is also my start button in vpinmame. So launching a game in pbx, can also starts in visual pinball. I don't use keyboard mappings, but I setup Joystick buttons. I will add screenshots later if you want EDIT: Here's my setup these are my buttons. Button 1,2,3 and 4 are my flippers Button 8 (credit) is the same as left coin chute When I push my plunger I also a button (16) I also have Button 11,12,13 and 14 in my coin door to control the pinmame rom and button 15 to check if the coin door is open in PBX I set my quit and exit emulator to the same. Within VPX : MAKE SURE YOU HAVE "Overide Default Button Layout" and "Disable ESC KEY" checked As you can see, I use "Add Credit" (button 8) and "Add Credit 2" (button 9) for adding credits Within PBX I set button 8 (Credit) for instructions. So in PBX I see the instructions, but using Vpinmame I add a credit. I don't have assigned Button 7 (exit) in Visual Pinball, but I use the exit emulator in PBX for it you only got 4 buttons on your front (but maybe you can add some yourself), so needs to be creative to setup in the way you want I hope it makes a bit sense
  5. Gotcha. So you mapped the buttons to keys. I use the buttons sifferent in pbx rhan in vpx. Also have 5 buttons Launch ball - Direct table start Start - Select Exit - Exit emulator/pbx Coin - show instructions Pause - Pause game
  6. How many buttons do you have on your cab ? Without the flipper buttons
  7. Sorry, my mistake. My button called start. This will show the menu where you can start the table, get extra info, but systems is in that list as well. So indeed not the direct launch button. If you dont have setup this button, you will not get to filters or custom database, recently added etc. I have both buttons setup in my cab Sorry for the wrong info I gave you
  8. No, hit the start button and in the menu go to systems again
  9. Not all tables has an effect. not sure how this is triggered, but if you got it working, thats awesome ! I hope your texts are showing fine as well and you don't have the 'shadows' leds that will screw up (see post only building rig) have fun with your leds and remember my advice
  10. Yes it was clear. Thats why I pointed you to I the PF Back PBX MX line. Try to add it and put that new config on the cab. There is a smal script that can download and extract the dof config. I use it on my cab and runs at startup, so always have the latest config. Ok. It was just something I noticed from your video. I have 144 LEDs on each site and within PBX all the leds are working. I only created a pbx_cabinet.xml, but should also work with your cabinet.xml. Let me know if it is working and check also the pinballX table in dof
  11. I had 4 weeks off, just to relax myself , don't think about work and to get a lot of rest. Because I bought 4 exciter speakers last year to create SSF, and it was getting dust (as we say in the NL. You buy something and doesn't use it), I thought I could build it in. Here's the list I bought : 4x Dayton Audio DAEX58FP € 79.10 2x Lepy LP-838 Power car AMP € 20,11 3x RCA Cable, 3.5 jack to AUX € 8,89 20m 0.5 mm Audio cable € 7,20 2x 12v Cigarettes lighter connector € 1,77 1x Startech.com 7.1 USB Audio € 46,83 --------------------------------------------- Total (including VAT and shipping) € 163,90 NOTE : all the parts where bought from different sellers Ok, as I mentioned, most parts I already ordered last year, but never assembled in/to my cabinet. Also mentioned that I had 4 weeks off, and wanted to do some maintenance on the cabinet. I adjusted the playfield a bit, so the view angle was better , I decided to add the Amps and the speakers as well Because I had my real amp mounted in front of my cab, so I can turn it on and off easily when I play at night, I found I could add the other 2 (cheap) amps next to it. This is the front view taken from the coin door. And yes .. I did all the wires myself, so a pretty mess ! On the right (you can see some wood)< I made a small tumble switch, so I don't have to power on/off the cab on the back, but can do it (like a real one) from the bottom as well 2 speakers I added in front and too at almost the end of my TV screen All wired up (and , I really didn't need that much cables as I bought. I discovered later, that I had some audio cables left from my other speakers as well) With the jack to audio cable (I bought 3, so I could change my original one as well, for the same cable), I wanted to connect it to my computer. but .. I discovered that I had a 5.1 sound card and not a 7.1 that is needed But connected all, so that the music came from the grill speakers, and all the sounds (setting in VPX) from the 2 front speakers. This worked ! and plays really great. I thought these speakers only generated a vibration, but they give very good sound (even with the cheap AMPS) and although I have only 2 speakers connected, you can really hear where the sound is coming from (sorry can not show you that with a picture or with a sound file) I only had some noise that is coming from my DOF lights. Looks like the lamps in my cab, interfering with the speakers/amp. Ok, next step is to have a real 7.1 feeling, so I ordered an USB audio device with 7.1 output. The software was a bit odd, but found out how it works. I configured the audio to use 7.1, (Visual pinball was already configured), and started a game. I turned off the grill speaker, so I only could hear the audio from the table. one word : Amazing ! Now I could hear better the sounds from the back and from the front. And .. My background noise is gone ! Properly because I put the usb device close to the amps and doesn't have a lot of cables I disabled my solenoids in my cab, because these sounds are better. Only my real knocker is much louder than the one defined in visual pinball (but depends on the volume you set ) It costs me almost a year to assemble everything in my cab (technically it cost me less than an hour in total), but I'm very happy with it. If you want to reduce the money, you can use just 2 exciters and if you already have a 5.1 or 7.1 onboard sound card, you don't have to buy this as well. But if you don't have SSF on your visual pinball table, I can definitely recommend it ! It's much better than having extra lights as undercab lighting. I had some leds left and mounted it for my undercab. total of 340 leds (maybe a bit too much), and my teensy board has channels left, so I thought "why not ?" When mounting to the cab, connecting the wires and setup DOF, I played a table : TAF I don't think I have to say anything , but this video shows the effects during game play 20200831_064730.mp4 I disabled the undercab lighting in DOF. It drives me crazy during playing
  12. Don't see anything weird in your config (well noticed something on your video, but will mention it later). This is my setup in dof config tool for pinballx : I changed some colours in the menu, so that's why they are blue highlighted My 'PF Back PBX MX' was empty last week (default is @allrgb@) and I didn't have anything displayed as well I assume you have setup a combined toys as well, to have multiple effects combined to 1 toy (and thats your led matrix), ? I have created multiple, but I'm using Combo3 (I already have flashers in my cab, zo I skipped those, but up to you) Please note that you need PF Back PBX MX setup as a toy ! What I also noticed is that your side leds are not fully used. Is that on purpose ? When scrolling up/down in the menu I noticed that 3/4 of your leds are highlighted instead of all the leds. Is your cabinet.xml configured correctly ? See my video : 20201007_064118.mp4 And if I can give you one suggestion ... Your side leds are faced up, so the leds are facing to you. I should recommend to place them side wards. If you have a table with a lof of leds during the game, it will get annoyed if you let them face up (I also had the same with the matrix. I had it under my flashers, but made it external and with dimmed plexiglass. See my building rig post ) I hope this helps you So, looks like nothing wrong with PBX, but more your config that needs to be checked
  13. The new version fixes the popups with the custom databases Thanks Tom for you quick updates! I really appreciate it
  14. Did you setup the dof config tool correctly ? I thought for table 'pinballx' the mxeffects should be set to allrgb. I noticed last week that the setting was gone for me. Adding it showed the animations. I will grab some screenshots in an hour
  15. I asked this on another Pinball side as well and received answer : What I didn't know is that VpinMame uses (same as Mame) split roms. So you need a good parent rom. This is what I receved from 32assassin: Within Romcenter you need to make sure you have the parent rom –> rom center will give you a list of all the parent roms expand this and make sure they are all green If for some reason you feel like running a clone rom instead of the parent The parent rom will contain all the “missing” bin files from the Clone zip file. I fix my roms when a new version of PINMAME comes out and again My only missing parents are my SAM roms ( but I’m using the patched roms so I actually have them) I’m missing allot of Clones but since I don’t use them I don’t need to worry about them Thanks to @32assassin and @Thalamus for explaining to me in a way I understand (I hope they don't mind that I took there references and put them here as well). if you got all the "originals roms" to status green (except the SAM build customized roms), you are pretty sure that the roms you download are completly functioning and doesn't require a missing file. Also check on every new release of vpinmame (or sambuild) that your romset is still correct (just like mame)
  16. if you need help on that, you need to attach you log.txt and pinballx.ini, so we can have a look. Also be sure that in windows all is correctly setup. Within Windows set your playfield to primary and all the way on the left, like this :
  17. Tested it on a test system that doesn't have any plugins. I still have it. I left the box 'Mame Arcade' longer time open and in the log file I see that the program is waiting for processing the next custom database 17:37:03.83 6-10-2020: Loading Custom Database: MAME Arcade 17:37:19.35 6-10-2020: Loading Custom Database: MAME Driving must be in the code some where. log.txt PinballX.ini
  18. Resolved. My gamecard is back now ! Not sure who did it, but its ok again
  19. I didn't update any plugins, but I will check that. I had it after updating to the latest version and because it shows me only the custom db names, I thought you added it for debugging. I will check shortly (need first prepare dinner, otherwise my wife will complain. And I will complain if she is preparing our dinner)
  20. Did you remove compatability mode again, or just did the installation in compatability mode ? Check Pinballx.exe that is it not running in compatability mode!
  21. I've seen this topic multiple times and noticed it with some tables as well. I must say that most of the times nvram is saved correctly when closing a table, but think I found an issue that causing the nvram file locked and cannot be saved on exit table (through Pinballx) Background : I was playing the kiddie challenge from Pinemhi leaderboard. I was focusing on the nvram file and the pinemhi leaderboard log, because everytime I had the score to beat, it wasn't send to PinemHI leaderboard. PinemHI leaderboard, reads the nvram when starting a table, grab the hishscore from player 1, when table is closed, it will reads the nvram file again and if the highscore is different , it will send the score to the website. As I noticed, when having a normal score (so no highscore was reached), the nvram was saved ad send to the website. When reaching a personal highscore, and quiting the table via pinballX, the nvram wasn't saved. I have noticed this before with other tables as well (24 was the first one I noticed). I could not found the real root cause, but my suspicion is that after closing the table, PinballX wants to read the highscores from the nvram with PinEmhi.exe It looks like that Pinballx Is quicker than vpinmame and locks the nvram by the read action. Vpinmame cannot write the file and highscores are not saved. Renaming the pinemhi.ini_ so, PinballX cannot use pinemhi for reading the nvram, the nvram is saved correctly when having a highscore. Could it be a timing issue from PBX when reading the nvram that the nvram isn't saved ? The log file doesn't show any issues Here's one where I had a highscore and closing it via PBX doesn't save the nvram log.txt PinballX.ini
  22. Since a couple of days, I noticed that in my signature the gamecard is not displayed correctly. The image is gone and it only shows the link to my gameex profile. Checking the gameex online website, I cannot get to the gamecard anymore I think I had this last year as well.
  23. @Tom Speirs I didn't hav time to check earlier, but did it today Is it still in debug mode ? Launching it, it shows for my custom lists a poup with the name : (Yes I also create recently added xml files, but these contains different tables than PinballX has ) When having this popup multiple times, PBX is starting normal. Going to the lists, it normally combines the lists with the same names ( I always used that), but now it shows it multiple times in my list: Can this be fixed as we had in all the previous versions ? EDIT : This only happens when not having a group xml When having a groups XML that combines my Visual pinball tables it shows correctly (maybe it was the same in the previous version) <group name="Visual Pinball"> <database>Visual Pinball 9\Visual Pinball 9.xml</database> <database>Visual Pinball\Visual Pinball.xml</database> <database>Visual Pinball (P-ROC)\Visual Pinball (P-ROC).xml</database> </group> So maybe ignore the last part, but remove the popups that shows the custom database during launch
  24. Wy not adding an extra system that contains the pinsound tables, so that those tables have the specific pinsound.exe to run ?
