I just wanted to let everyone know that I have been busy updating many of the video sets along with Boxs, Carts, Titles, Manuals & Game Snaps all with standard naming conventions verified. Most are going to be No-Intro and the rest re-checked against GoodXXX. I am posting updates almost daily over at emumovies.com While I am going through I am also replacing any missing or bad videos to make sure that the sets are 100% complete.
-
I am currently going through many of my old sets, checking for errors and adding missing videos. Along with that I am adding box, cart, titles, snaps and manuals. I am making them as complete as possible and all packs will have the latest no-intro or (if no-intro is not applicable) goodtools naming conventions. Will be a major plug and play solution for gameex. Check out the news section over at emumovies.com, updates are posted almost daily at this point. If anyone would like to help just send me an email [email protected] Thanks

I have not been able to play with this in awhile since I had to tear my game room apart for new flooring But I do recall that in only worked on SOME mame games. And it currently does not support any other emulators that I can see. Looking forward to the day when headkaze revisits this plugin after more current projects are completed. But it does work.

Congrats Brian, do you have to wait 90 days for benefits or do they start right away

Went through the exact same thing a couple of days ago, finally found the ini file as well, I noticed that that option to turn it of in the configuration doesn't work with most third party layouts. At least the ini is easy to understand.
-
That might be the problem, sorry for the non techinical response I was tired. Anyway when you start work on it again I will do all the testing you want. I will play with it some more and make sure that I have the latest version installed, does that happen automatically when gameex updates itself or should I re install?

Well I did plenty of beta testing with loadman on his plugin, so I would be more than happy to help test the next version. Just let me know when you are ready!

Has anyone else had an issue with 1.92 not saving the ledwiz configurations. For some reason it will not save for me, also it freaks out pretty bad when I try to use two LCD panels at the same time (Betabrite and BPP-440)
-
I just used these to replace my standard green coin buttons on my CP. They will not spin because there are 2 round tabs at the top and botton i had to drill two small holes around the spot where the bottons fit. Needless to say they are solid and will not move.

Got the BetaBrite up and running, a few ideas. It seems as though all information is being pulled directly from the control.ini file. Maybe if it also pulled from the MAME.XML file it would work for all games. I notice that now only information from games listed in the control.ini file shows. If a game is not listed say 2020 Super Baseball, then the betabrite still continues to show information from the last game played. Scan through information in mame as: In MAME: MAME Game Name Manufacturer Year Control (Filtered IE joy8way= 8 Way Joystick) Buttons (Filtered IE NOT USED does not show up) - This would be the only info neccesary to pull from control ini, and if it wasn't listed then it would still show everything else. Other Emulators: System Game Name I noticed in game ex many console games have manufacturer and year listed would be cool if that would output too, Not sure if this is a bug but the LCD panels would not work until I enabled the LED-WIZ. Once I did that whammo the betabrite worked. However I was not able to get two lcd panels working at the same time but figured would use this for the betabrite and send .lcd files through the command line interface.

im cab is still exiting from screensaver when i try to play
Circo replied to gerble1000's topic in General
Would it be to difficult to just add a Start game out of screensaver mode button option in the configuration? IE: select the option and then just press the button on your control panel that you want to use. Then it wouldn't matter what hardware or config an individual had. Just an idea. -
Ok, I have been searching on this board for clarification on the but most of the posts seem to deal with the LED wiz part of this plugin. This week I replaced Mala with GameEX on my cab, for the most part it is perfect and bulletproof. I worked fairly closely with loadman when he developed a similar plugin for Mala when headkaze developed the plugin for GameEx. I figured they would be similar but I can't quite figure out how to get the LCD's to work. So far I have not been able to get anything to populate on the displays. I currently have a betabrite and a bpp-440. Where do they get their data? In Mala I had two choices, it would either pull an lcd file or just sent basic information to the display. I would let Mala sent internal information to the betabrite ie: Mame - Game Name, Year, Manufacturer, Controls, and it would filter out useless controll information like NOT USED. In other emulators it would send Game Name, System, Game List info. For the BPP-440 i set it up to use .lcd files when available. It went to an lcd directory and automatically searched in a corresponding sub directory for an emulator ie: i:\lcd\snes , i:\lcd\mame. Currently I can not see any way to do this in GameEx. The nice thing was is that if I had not created an .lcd file for the BPP-440 the Mala would just shoot over line 1 Game Name, line 2 System, and line 3 Game List. Is there a way to do this using the plugin for GameEx? Also on a side note for the LED-WIZ, is there a way to create sytem specific lwa files to light up the controls for other emulators, ie: snes genesis? Thanks!

No, he has a theme site for GameEx. You can find the link on the download page on the main GameEx site.
-
Duh, wish I could delete this, found the ini file!! Never Mind.
-
I really like this theme, but unlike the default themes I can't seem to hide the toolbar. Is there something that I need to do in the layout editor to make the toolbar able to disappear?

kenclops, You can host it on the public ftp server over at my site, all you have to do is updoad it. I can't promise how long it will stay up depending on bandwidth. But at least a few months, at that point I would just move it over to the private side. I'll shoot you over an ftp account if you are interested, let me know. I would suggest that you make it one file so that it is easy to link to. I will also include a link over at my site.

Still working on it, thanks for the input. The reason for torrent links not on the collections page anymore is that it's just one big torrent file now. Now there was about four months where the site just went to crap, new baby and hosting issues. But that's all pretty much been corrected now. UPDATE: Just updated the front page of the website to hopefully make it a little clearer. Bold red type do the trick?
-
Night, Has there been any update for this impressive set?

Night, Check your PM, I have something to replace that DL2 DVD that you never recieved. - Circo

The torrent links from emumovies.com no longer take you to a web site, they are strictly torrent files, you do not have to log in to a site or anything. The whole reason for me offering up the DVD's was about 100+ emails from people asking me to do so. Trust me, I would rather not spend the time making them, but it has allowed me to do a few things with the site. I felt bad that people who couldn't download the sets bought them and had to buy again for updates, so I have moved the site to a new server and I give those folks lifetime ftp access to get the new stuff. The problem is that the EmuMovies collection will soon top 50GB, and try as I might, there is no perfect way to host them freely. I distribute in 3 ways: #1 Torrents - Everything but nintendo is golden! Nintendo torrents have to be hosted on a different tracker and never last more than a week. Any ideas would be appreciated. #2 DVD Sets - Cost a little money but nothing extravigant. And it is a nice professional product to boot. #3 FTP Access - Free to folks who have bought the dvd collection or have donated to the site. If I just left it open to everyone the bandwidth costs would shut me down in a month so I figured this was the best way. Also, if you are a developer or contributer to the emulation, front end, plug in etc scene email me for free ftp access. TO MAKE IT CLEAR: There are no links anywhere on emumovies.com to any sites with roms. Try and find one In fact all of the nintendo sites are up at a very good torrent site but it is chock full of roms so the link to that site is not available on my site. Not to say that there didn't used to be but the brand new site is up (90%) done and there ended up being better ways to do the torrent thing. Scroll down to the bottom of the home page for the current torrent links. And please seed what you take Night: I remember that Dragon's Lair II thing back when the site was new. It was a giveaway because I had two of them, I remember you didn't recieve yours, but I couldn't really go out and by another one to giveaway. And that was before I ever offered anything like DVD sets and stuff. Sorry if that upset you, and sorry that you never recieved your giveaway item. OFF TOPIC - I just switched over to GameEx and your wip's for the multi emu themes are incredible. Any idea when they will be completed? - Circo

The main reason for changing the format of the new mame set to 640x480 was to use them as a screensaver as well as previews. My new sets are all 20-25 seconds of gameplay and 5-10 seconds of intro screen, I have those mixes in with commercials and other misc vids. The quality is about the same as if the game was playing and every video shows gameplay. To make the videos I actually played almost every game so all of the sounds and music would be there. I like it a bit better than playing actual games because the games don't always load up every time, and many of the attract modes are not as good as the videos, for me anyway. What I am thinking about is to have the 640x480 vids watermarked for each game system and use smaller non watermarked ones for the preview screen. I am not distributing sets with watermarks, but it is not that hard to do in virtual dub so anyone who wanted to could do it. That way the screensaver is an attract mode for all game systems installed on the cab.

Thanks Tom, very impressed by GameEx so far, alot to get in to

The only setting that I could find loads mame up every few minutes and videos also. I was hoping that I could just use game videos.
