  1. I add the biographys when I comlete a db (I will remember from now on). I will keep sysinfo for this reason. In the (way) earlier post, I meant database.xml, as I had to add Naomi to it (my mistake). So, yes - I will do..
  2. Thanks HK. I will try to work out what is what with the databases and make a list of what is missing or complete. Ie. Saturn (V1.2) - As complete as needed, missing some of the unplayable Japanese games. Colecovision (V1.049) - Contains all known games, demos, and bios. Intellivision (V1.035) - Contailns all known games, demos, and bios. Nintendo 64 (V1.036) - Contains all known games. demos, bios, and hacks are ommitted (for now) ...ETC..... (versions added just so I can keep track) what do ya think. I thought this may be a handy thing to have as a Topic that is just an update page seeing as the databases are now becoming such an integral part of GameEx. A topic that only allows Mod, Admin posting? As BK has shown, for others trying to follow what is going on in this topic, it can get a tad confusuing!
  3. Because they are ALL new. The only thing I wanted people to know was WHAT system databases were now complete. They do not affect any of your configs and all the new databases have been included with gameex releases since around 9.40 i believe. They are now available as a seperate download if wished in an offline pack from the main gameex download page. The same names had to be kept so that they would slipstream with current users configs so not to mess them up. So, please don't get yourself all confused and mystified...
  4. Ok Tom, that would be really nice... and thanks for your kind words, I will have a word with HK about doing a database post. In a way, this one is a bit redundant as no-one really uses it except us three. Even if someone else has a problem with database matching, errors, etc, they start a new topic. but at least a topic listing the complete db's would help let people know what the updates are (set for mod posts only).
  5. It varies - some systems it is as high as 80%+ and some it is 0%, from what I have done so far, I would say around 60-70% - so it is not that bad. But when the info is not there, it can be a REAL pain to find it. Sometimes resorting to downloading the covers (if found) and looking at them for any pointers.. The scan - to be honest, I forgot! I will really try to do it for you tomorrow morning at work and will post it to the ftp when I get home (8 ish). Sorry, did not mean to appear ungreatful regarding mod status - it would be an honor. I just think that between you and HK is were it should lie for the posting of such a topic. Though I would be happy to do so.!
  6. As if I don't have enough on my plate :) But I like the "Elite Member" bit I can if you want..? But perhaps HK would rather maintain that with aid from you on what is implemented regarding GameEx? It is really HK's little baby after all.. Up to you really.. Have a word with HK first. did you know that the N64 Dats have entries for both "Mario Golf" and "Mario Golf 64", just because one is european and the other isn't. That is how far I am in this damn N64 one. PS. Adding all Developer fields as I go along...
  7. You are so easily pleased PS. Is it worth having a sticky to mark "Completed" db's. IE. a topic that is not open for replys that can hold info just on the database side of things, listing completed db's. I know the "new database project" part does show this, but it is on the first page of a long list and not many people would think to look? Just a thought.
  8. As the db's get further toward completion, then the level of success will increase greatly. You are not puting preasure on me at all - can you just hire a group of db precontructors from the profits for the GameEx fashion house and I will just check them.... ? Look forward to the next release.
  9. Sounds great to me.. Depending on speed of course. Don't know what tags you are gonna use - Title, Developer, System, year.. I would not use Publisher as it is so much of a 'catch all'. So many games were released by the same publisher and sometimes the same game series crossed several publishers. Developer (when added to all) is perhaps a better choice. Ie. Treasure did not publish all there games, but selecting Treasure would (should) bring up all there games regardless of system or Publisher. One note, when you do release this - please tell people that the feature will never give perfect results untill ALL db's are complete. And as you know - this could be quite a while (one man and all that ). I just don't want people disapointed that the selected games by "Bitmap Brothers" and the nes version of Chaos Engine was not shown - etc. Looking forward to it. Now trying to find enough time to complete the n64 one and then go back and try and fill all the Developer fields in the earlier complete db's... Phew! PS. I knew this was coming, sixth sense..
  10. Have made an improvemnet and now have it showing the name of the image beneath the thumbnail - so you should be ok to firefox it again - please let me know how it works? Also - thinking of changing the website to a simple name of either "Computer Porn" or "Retro Porn", well - these are images of computers in the buff showing there curves and glory (interface ports!), what do ya think??? Now doing a load of new images in Photoshop cs4 (What a dream - yes it is a fully paid version) so should have some nice updates in the next few days. TOM: will try and do that scan on Monday for ya!
  11. Well... It is better - though not as ICONIC as Asteroids
  12. The console bit of the Spectrum was the Interface 1, plugged into the spectrum to enable a selection of carts to be played. I have TONS to add, you can see some stuff in the images with piles of stuff. In there is an Oric-1 and an Oric Atmos. I will get them done soon. have c64, c65, vic 20, and pet to dd at some point, oh - and the sx64! Thanks for your interes tom. Have just bought a 14.6 megapixel Pentax SLR to try and get some really nice pics. Gotta pic up the new lens next week (£899), and then it is photo taking time again...
  13. Gameex was also in the last edition of Retro Gamer.
  14. I meant I would upload them this week end. I will upload them today. This will be the complete xml collection and the sysinfo as there is a slight update for Naomi support. ps. sorry...
  15. I can't see the need for anything else to be added. But having the option is a good idea. Can the form remember the last selections? I will zip ALL mdbs to you. May be helpful for checking purposes? You can safely replace yours with them. (and read my little notes :) )
  16. It was yesterday... I must send you all the xmls by the way HK. I will up them this weekend to the ftp for ya. It's just nice to have a backup. Half way through the damn n64 db.. It started off at 990 or so entries and it is now down to 750. Removed all the demos and bios images for now to get them done quicker. With GXDBM I can always go back later and add them. Just wanna get the db's done as quick as I can... They can become a weight on your shoulders, as it were. With the smaller db's I will leave the demo's in (like I did on the coleco, intell, atari etc). The atari VCS one will have to be missing demos and hacks for now - it is 5389 entries, and that is after I have removed lots. sorry, I had to but in there as I was feeling a bit left out
  17. Silly me - thanks for pointing that out... My Digital SLR died last night Went out today and bought a 14mp Pentax Gonna have a good play now - HUGE images....
  18. Quite ironic really (a word that Alanis Morissette never understood) that a topic about the deletion of topics should itself perhaps succumb to the same fate..
  19. I always get files of 3 bytes in the unzipped folder. I belived this was just the file headers that tom extracts so that he can display the zips contents. IE. with a goodmerged set, lots of 3 byte headers are extracted to construct the list of various game versions that it displayed on the game launch page. When one of these is selected, only then is the full name(s) extracted to the unzipped folder (using the info from the 3-byte flle headers) and the path is switched to there and the command line is executed. (Tom, correct me if i am wrong - as if I ever am). So, it is common to see these 3 byte headers present. something is going wrong between thier extraction and execution. Their presence indicates the zips are ok? Do the games run unzipped? Unzip one of the archives to the rom directory and set zip/goodmerge to OFF. now try and see it the rom is executed, if not - something is wrong with your config for the execution of the roms. Try them WITHIN gameex but UNZIPPED. I think that is where your problem lies.
  20. It wasn't my fault... It was those damn squirrels... Honest...
  21. Thanks BK, It is nice to have some remarks about the site. I have no idea why the pop up text is failing to do so? I will look into that. Perhaps I will add a small text of the image description to display under the image (the same text as the popup?). That should not be too hard to paste into the php. Not sure how it will affect the other views though as it is all template based and a modification to one affects others. I will have a play tomorrow on a fresh head (is there such a thing?) A quality picture of a TI would be GREAT. I have 4 of them and mine all have scratches on them Whose bloody stupid idea was it to put brushed metal on them? Just got another load of stuff from storage tonight. About 3-4 more trips to go.... Here is some pics of what I found I will get round to doing the picture proper like gov, got to buy a mini-studio that is all white and 2 soft-lights.
  22. Thanks mate... It certainly will remain free as well. Just trying to get google to index the images, thought it may help people locate them.
  23. If you hold the mouse over an image, then it will pop up what the image is (system name). if you click on an image, there is a description field that has info on the picture and sometimes a wiki link. Thanks for your input, I never thought that people may want to browse to find stuff rather than just using it to find an image of a system they wanted.. Perhaps I may have to start adding a bit more info?
  24. Yes, that would be great if you have one... Either upload it here or at the site itself? The site would be best if that is ok? Cheers! TOM: yeah, I do remember seeing/reading about an adaptor to convert the outputs of several systems. Cannot for the life of me remember where? I have got a Microvitec Cub which should cover a few of my options, It was not just for the bbc. They were actually great little rgb monitors in their day.
  25. I have been collecting since the 80's really... Some of them were expensive e-bay purchases (boxed Amiga A1000 - £380gbp) and some were just luck (portable CDI system - £25) The collection is forever growing. Looking for a Pippin and X68000 (normal or Pro)... Anyone? I am pick up a load that I had in storage tonight, so I may have a bit of fun... Wish there was some way to connect them to my plasma though
