  1. tried it already. it doesnt keep files or extended navigation, mostly the frontpage. gonna try again of course edit: it goes all the way into bezels, first page. then its not crawled
  2. Hi all, i built my custom arcade cabinet using gameex and i love it. Now the only real thing missing is my bezel.. What i would like is to find the space invaders bezel in vector format so i could rearrange it for my dimensions and i KNOW that localarcade had it.. You can find it in googles cache but you cant download if of course. If someone has it, please please please attach it or let me know so i can pm you my email instead or anything that works. You can see what i am trying to do in mamemarquees.com, just compare the "mame invaders" bezel with the next one and you will understand. I would order from them, but i want it customized and i already have access to printing on plexi. other than that, can you suggest some nice bezels you found around (or even yours) for ideas if this doesnt creep up? thanks! George
  3. Well, maybe with the new addon for the wiimote (dont remember the name right now) it will be very accurate, if they ever find out how to use it with the aforementioned programs (glovepie etc). In case it JUST speeds up the regocnition, we have a winner, since it will be compatible from day 1, but if it needs special treatment.. lets hope they find a way, cause its wireless and lots of plastic guns holders are around so.. makes it a winner! Only thing missing is this lag (which is the reason i am not happy with the topgun too). On another note, has anyone had success emulating the pinball tables AND be able to show the pinmame window somewhere on the screen? I would love that...
  4. Hi all, your input has been valuable up till now, so i am totally finished with my cab, with just this problem: when visual pinball runs and the table appears, i can not see the pinmame emulated window that shows graphics, scores, etc and this is probably because gameex runs visual pinball in full screen, on top of everything else.. Before i had visual pinball switch to fullscreen after execution, i could see both the visual pinball window and the vpinmame window at the same time, because both windows were in different places, but this way, gameex closes the emulator (maybe because its not fullscreen again). So i am either looking for a way to make gameex allow "non fullscreen" mode for this emulator, or a way to popup the pinmame window above the visual pinball window while its in fullscreen (if that is even possible). I looked around but not really got any answers. Also, just for the record and to not open another thread, has anyone had any success with any other lightgun (or something hacked to be a lightgun like a wiimote e.g.) other than the topgun from ems? I have it, its ok, but nothing spectacular. I thought of guncon3 which performs great, but then, the software is built around the device as well. (keep in mind i have an lcd screen)
  5. Yes, its manageable, all right. I almost did it and i will post an archive with all control configurations, but they will only work with an xarcade (or any pad/stick compatible with the xarcade layout) and the xbox360 controller or any controller compatible with its layout. Its not much, but its what i can give back to this excellent community I will post pics once done. I will probably be done tonight or tomorrow so wait for them Oh, one more thing i would like to ask but always forget. What do i have to do to make gameex display the whole title of a game? For example metal slug instead of mslug for mame and the same for the other emulators. Also, could someone point to me the biggest/best changes gameex had since version 9.02? I know i can backtrack through the changes, just asking for your own favorite added thing you cant live without. I will update it once i am done with the configurations (keeping backups of course!).
  6. Well, that tool is good but only for windows key + XX combinations... So i did what i should in the first place, compiled a simple script in autohotkey like that alt::L made it into an exe, load it together with nebula, kill it when exiting I still have a couple of things to configure but these were the most weird ones. If i only knew how to configure the model 2 emulator controls holistically and not game by game i would be one happier man, i am looking into it, thanks guys!
  7. great little tool, the first link! One click handles all windows shortcuts, never thought of that, will give it a go and let you know:)
  8. Hi, i know mame emulates all neo geo games, i would just like to have them separate as well. Finally, my best setting need to use the window gui so the "alt" thing keeps creeping up. When you say one to one button mapping what exactly do you mean and how would i use it for that matter? The problem is that the xarcade controller uses the "alt" keyboard button for one of the buttons so i am a little confused on how gameex could help on that matter. I have the same problem with another emulator for the master system that uses a button for resetting the console.. doh! I have the registered version of gameex.
  9. Ok, found out that it is specific resolutions that do this.. the specific screen will not align correctly at certain resolutions (such as 1280x960) which makes it go out of alignment. I found that using other resolutions worked, however, i now either need a low res or the default res of the screen which is 1400x1050 and nebula will not allow me to go that much. Also, by choosing to run nebula in the old gui and not the windows gui took care of the windows bar creeping up So, if anyone knows how to force nebula to ho to higher resolutions be my guest (or even suggest another emulator for neo geo that rocks) George
  10. I am almost done configuring the whole lot of my cabinet. However, i have a couple of problems.. 1) because one of the actual keyboard pressed the xarcade controller sends to windows is the "alt" key, the nebula emulator (and only this one) makes the window bar (the one with the file, edit, view, history kind you can find in all apps even in the browser) appear and then it wont go away. Is there a way to override this? 2) some emulators some of the time (which is why this drives me nuts) show up wrong. I have each emulator change the resolution and switch to fullscreen right after execute and i have set gameex to always set the resolution to a specific one, which is the native one for my lcd.. Now when an emulator switches the resolution and shows up bad (meaning i can see half of its screen so i need to auto align my lcd to see it ok), it messes with gameex when exiting. This is because using the auto align probably fixes the resolution the emulator is using, but breaks the resolution gameex is using. Here, the problem is 2 faced. Why on earth would a program that works great by itself not align correctly and why even if this program aligns badly, gameex does not come back fine as long as i have it configured to go full screen at a specific resolution? I think i only have this problem with nebula, will have to try to see if it applies to other emulators as well. apart from these 2 things everything else is sorted out and is great! George
  11. Hi all! Its been a long time since i wrote here. I am almost done with my cabinet running gameEx (thats what i said back then though lol) and i wanted to ask this, since there have been a lot of new versions of gameEx over time... Will updating my gameEx installation mess with any configurations/emulators/whatever? I have absolutely no problems or bugs running the version of gameEx i do (not really sure about the version but a lot of time back, maybe 1 year) apart from it not really changing resolutions (and filling the screen after doing so) when i exit some emulators, leading to some emulators coming with a margin, so unless there is something spectacular or it wont mess at all, i wouldnt care to update in fear of having to setup things i forgot up till now. lol I will post pics of my cab. Only the plexiglass screens are missing George
  12. excuse my absence (i said i would post the ahk file yesterday) but if the ipac is in any way similar to the xarcade (that it works like a keyboard, meaning that presses on joysticks and buttons generate keyboard button key presses) you can easily configure it using AutoHotKeys which is a freeware utility, there is also posted above a way to launch it with zinc and end it when you exit the emulation! I will post the file later, i just didnt even bother with the cab yesterday after work.
  13. i am quite happy the way it works. I can provide my own AHK file for everybody else using the x-arcade. I will certainly do it, and autohotkeys is really easy, it gave me no problem at all. When i get home from work i will post it.
  14. didnt quite thought of that. Will have a look later, but i already did it anyway. thanks anyway!
  15. Why dont you just do what i did then? Grab the file above, unzip it into your emulators folder, and configure your zinc emulator through the emulation pack you can find at the "101 reasons..." thread. Then the only thing you will want to do is to map your keys. Do that with autohotkey which is great. And also, i found a way to close autoclosekey, using just xp stuff: Put into Launch After field in the Zinc emulator settings this: taskkill /IM AutoHotKeys.exe and you are done! thanks everyone, i managed to do it! Brian: I didnt really saw your post before writting mine! cheers though!
  16. I was finally able to use zinc through gameex with that latest pack you made. I also used autohotkey as a means to remap the xarcade buttons to the zinc layout. However, before i start going deep to find a way to auto-shutdown autohotkey after the zinc game exits is there a simple way to do this? (i found a way to auto start it, through gameex setup wizard - also launch) Since the xarcade controls are going to be messed up for other emulators if the autohotkey layout if still present..
  17. Not just a suggestion. The only really good solution i think. A program like that was what i had in mind when i found out that the controls are (probably) hard coded. thanks!
  18. you sir, must be joking! Is it me, or does anybody else think that the Zinc devs should award you a Zinc Support Medal? lol I have to try it out. You didnt really have to make it, directions should be fine. Not complaining (could i?) but that was too good, too fast. Thanks for the replies, i will check it out and let you know. Oh, and please, let me know how you configure the emulator, so i dont bug the whole forum for a topic so much discussed. I mean, where can i configure keys? If i cant do this with the plugin included, how can i use another one? This emu is like an alien compared to others
  19. Hello all! With the great level of support by the community here, i was able to finish my custom mame (And others) cab in no time, except for one bitch emu. which is Zinc. Using the latest emulation support from the 101 reasons to use gameex thread (which adds zinc support among others) i noticed it looks for zinc_loader.exe which is included in a zip file in another thread by nologic. However that specific zip file uses xpadder as the input method and i dont want it, since i already have an xarcade joystick (the dual one) which will not work with xpadder. How can i customize that version of zinc so it uses the xarcade instead of xpadder? I tried running it and it complaints that it cant find xpadder. Although i could donwload it and install it, i know that it isnt compatible with the xarcade, since the xarcade is seen as a keyboard. Apart from this emu, all other emus are working fine, i only need to add xarcade configurations to be complete (at which point i will create a journal and share it with all of you of course) thanks in advance for any input. I tried configuring it myself, given so many years of expertise in computers, programming and emu stuff, but its really a headache.
  20. the trick with the "run last game" worked like a charm so i know which is the problem in the command line. However, my question about the artwork, titles, marquess and stuff isnt about CONFIGURING gameEx to find them. It already looks in the correct folder. I just dont know how to see all these extra files from within gameEx. The keyboard combination this website suggests as the default for this one must be "Alt + 1" which for me, launches the game! i feel like a noob. To put it simply: what do you press when your cursor is over a game and you want to look at all the extra files? (cabinets, marquees) oh and thanks for all the swift replies too!
  21. Hello all! I am trying to find the "ideal" setup for mame for my DIY cabinet but i am having a couple of problems using the command line options in mame. my command line string is the following : -triplebuffer -nowindow -joy -resolution 1400x1050 0x0x32 -effect scan25 i am using my tft's maximum resolution so its in its native mode. I also tried to use the scan25 effect so i could start comparing the different scanline modes, but every time i try to start a game in gameEx it crashes and goes back to the game list before i get a chance to read what the problem is. So i created a bat file and used the above command line to run mame32.exe and guess what? It did run. Of course it didnt run any game with the above command, but it didnt compain. So my question is where is the problem in that? How can i enable scanlines in mame32 .120 through the command line options? Has it something to do with gameEx pointing the artwork files at another folder (artworkpreview instead of the default artwork)? That was my first question. Second question and the most noob one too. How can i get to the game information screen? I know that it says "Alt + 1" but for the life of me, i cant see the cabinets, marquees, titles etc etc etc i placed in the mame folders. Any ideas? Its probably a dumb one, but i am at a loss... Third question. I downloaded mame preview movies from emumovies. However, i noticed that there is a big difference in volume between them. Is there a way to "normalize" the volume through GameEx? If not i think i ll have to find a batch volume levelling app... thanks George
  22. yeah, i considered it, but i thought that i would leave gameEx to create them since i already have the full rom set, instead of downloading 18 gigs of vids. I think it gets stuck at the "ok" screen and the game info screen.
  23. Hello all! I installed gameEx a couple of hours ago, since i am almost ready with building my own cabinet ( ) and i tried to create mame videos. I installed mame 120 manually, since the mame version the wizard downloads is old.. I also have a full 120 rom set, and all paths are correct in the configuration utility. However, when i try to run the create videos utility, it always gets out of full screen and into a window (which i would presume is done in order for the videos to be in their native res) and when it runs the games one by one, it always gets stuck into the "press ok or joy left/right to continue" screen, although i specifically set it up to bypass them. Even if i manually type ok and make the game start, it still wont output any videos at all in the avisnap folder of mame32 folder. I have ffdshow installed as well. What should i do? george
