  1. Thanks for the replies. MAME is definitely not appearing in the GameEx start menu - I wonder if I have the same problem going on as here but I can't find a solution. tthurman, I *think* I've done everything you suggested but still no joy. I'm sure I'm doing something basic wrong..... GameEx.ini
  2. Hi, I stupidly added a RESOLVED to my last thread title before I was fully sorted so sorry for starting a new thread, I think I have MAME set up as an emulator on GameEx but I want to use the integrated MAME function. During the Setup Wizard I downloaded MAME from the dowload emulators page and left the advance MAME setup option at defaults. What is confusing me is the Emulator Selection page of the Setup Wizard, I think this is where I'm going wrong. If I don't put MAME in the table on the left for selected Emulators then MAME doesn't appear anywhere in GameEx. If I do put it in the table the MAME games then appear under the Emulated Games section of GameEx and I have the same problem as described in this thread. Have I missed something in the setup to make sure I'm using the integrated MAME? All help very gratefully received! Thanks Jon GameEx.ini
  3. Thanks for the reply, I was thinking of the integrated MAME as an emulator and so was populating the L hand table on this page of the Setup Wizard with MAME and then getting confused when it asked me to download it all over again. I see my mistake now..... 13.32 is running perfectly. I chose it after finding this video on YouTube (interestingly in the basic Setup Wizard of 13.32 I didn't get the option of populating the emulator slots and so it saved me from myself). I'm a bit nervous now about updating as it's all running beautifully (I've disabled auto update) Are there any significant advantages for a basic new user like me to updating? thanks Jon
  4. HI, I've resisted posting for 3 nights now as felt sure I could find the answers here somewhere but have to admit defeat. I'm probably getting something very basic wrong but can't figure it out at all. I bought a second hand Cocktail Table earlier this year which was running GameEx on XP with only 1Gb of RAM and an old celeron CPU. It was running the MAME games perfectly. I wanted to try some of the other emulators, PSCX2 etc so decided to upgrade the system. I installed a new CPU, upgraded the RAM and PSU and installed Windows 7, now kind of wishing I hadn't...... I have downloaded GameEx direct from the website and gone through the set up Wizard, I was a bit unsure when I got to the download emulators section but downloaded MAME and left everything in the MAME setup to defaults. When I came to the section in the Setup Wizard to select which emulator to use I moved MAME from the R hand list to the L hand list but when asked to download the emulator and database I clicked NO after reading this thread http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/16603-mame-list-showing-more-roms-than-i-have/. I've put a few ROMS in C: Roms/Emulators/MAME/Roms and there showing up in GameEx but when I try to load them I just get a black screen which I then have to Esc out of to get back to GameEx. I'm confident the ROMS are the same version of MAME as I have installed The most frustrating thing in all this is that I have done exactly the same setup on my Laptop and everything works fine. Please please put me out of my misery, Thanks Jon GameEx.ini Arcade Arcade (MAME).ini log.txt
