    ePSXe Problems

    Hmmmmm.....
  2. Hmmm... I understand your woes, fellas having just worked through the same difficulties. Short story: you can get all psx emus working with multi format zipped gamefiles. Long: I knocked togethers an app to hopefully help. However, its with the vips at the moment to knock about and see if it breaks. If stands up or if dont hear anything back shortly will post publically. Alternatively, you could search codeplex for "EmVoy".
  3. Thanks Flash - and thanks for providing both versions. I'll get on it as so as. Great to see the db being continuously updated too. I know that's a huge and potentially onerous piece of work. Nice one, tthurman and thanks for the mindfulness around other fire irons As ever, one of life's true contributors.
  4. Now that IS a genius feature! Seriously progressive and community-based. Love it. Should also cut down on those "please post your log files" requests too! Now got a bit more time - gonna update GE and check out and muck in with all the new GE online stuff. Great dev
  5. Has anyone: a) Got Makaron 12.5 up and running (including controls) Got MakaronEx 4.1 running from command line It progressively amazes me how little documentation or knowledge there seems to be available via google search. Cummon devs, you put so much effort into creating fantastic things - let others know how to use it!
  6. Bloody peanuts...they're very binding. Tthurman! Great work chap... Now you can pop a cap in me ass for moan-ey posts about... oh I can't even remmeber what it was about now. Well deserved and a true asset.
  7. Nice one, Dazzle - thanks for the link. I may need this guy's expertise as going deep into the heart of emulator darkness atm... btw - so which system do you run ikaragua on??
  8. Another wasted evening on this. Even made a script to change the rom gdi in gdrImage.ini. I just can't get it booting from command line. Always boots as background process. Using demul0582 Can't find anything through forums. I find it amazing that these folks make amazing code and stuff, but include virtually no docs. Very frustrating and disheartening.
  9. Unbelievable!!! I was using a third party cmd line app called PowerCmd for testing... I tried windows stock and it worked first time!! Lesson learned - if hit a brick wall, 1st test = using Windows Cmd. Correct cmd: demul.exe -run=dc -image="I:\EmuTests\roms\Dreamcast\Quicklaunch\Soul Calibur v1 001 1999 Namco PAL M4 zip\Soul Calibur v1.001 (1999)(Namco)(PAL)(M4)[!].gdi" There's 10 hours of my life I'll never get back... -------------- Original Post ----------------------------------------- So, this post here made it look easy! http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/12094-resolved-demul-and-dreamcast/ But can I find a way to do this? (rhetorical 'no') tried: demul.exe -run=dc -image="I:\EmuTests\roms\Dreamcast\Quicklaunch\Soul Calibur v1 001 1999 Namco PAL M4 zip\Soul Calibur v1.001 (1999)(Namco)(PAL)(M4)[!].gdi" and demul -run=dc -rom="I:\EmuTests\roms\Dreamcast\Quicklaunch\Soul Calibur v1 001 1999 Namco PAL M4 zip\Soul Calibur v1.001 (1999)(Namco)(PAL)(M4)[!].gdi" no dice... the gdi boots fine if I load via demul gui (Config>GD-ROM>Imagefile). GDRImage plugin selected. Demul does launch, but 'silently' - running in background processes but not visable on screen. Also, no sign of game running. Any ideas? Very little documentation available online,.
  10. Just checked it out and much to my surprise - my GameTag popped up on my second monitor! Seemed to hang around a bit then pootle off somewhere. Did have a quick look at the theme creator, but didn't dare dive in in a rush - I'm guessing it's essentially a GUI for populating the xml file? Looks like it was comprehensively done! Most definitely looking forward to the GameTagger-esque layered system! Big dev logos on my second monitor! Can't wait. Great work as ever.
  11. Indeed! A true star of the scene.
  12. Awesome, but can't keep up! Now got this and your GameInfo update to check out....
  13. ah, yes.. that... heh. Fuggy head. Soz.
  14. Many happy returns old boy.
  15. Added. Only got one more in mind, but getting bored now! Think I'm gonna wrap this up this weekend, do the documentation and slap it on the VIP forum so you guys can hopefully tear it apart!
  16. This project has led me to setup: epsxe pcsxr psx Mednafen Haven't gone into it in detail, but they all seem to have their pros+cons. Initial impressions are that The 3D rendering on PCSXR seems more solid and less 'wobbly' than epsxe (weirdly, despite using the same plugin). I think PSX sounded really good. However, Mednafen seems to have filters that might render 2D graphics better than the others (for games like Abe's Odyysee???). I'm sure a comparrisson of all psx emus has been done somewhere, but quick search didn't yield. Sure it's a complex subject. Had a quick go at RetroArch. Gave up when couldn't find the 'Cores' - dunno how it works! Anywhoos - back to me 'fing.' Hmmm, should I add just one more feature or get it released?
  17. Or it may have been the fing I'm makin...
  18. Just a quick health warning to anyone perusing this post. If you're going to try out ePSXecutor make sure you go into it 100%. I quickly tried to set it up whilst juggling many balls; gave up and then returned to my ePSXe settings being mysteriously screwed. It is written by the marvelous "Pete" of the fantastic gfx plugin, but my guess is you have to be 100% committed to getting it all set up. Reinstall of epsxe approaches after two more rescue attempts...
  19. * Shudders..... That's as bad as pictures of David Hasslehoff....
  20. Think the byoac wiki has some links in there to cocktail plans....
  21. Yeah... I remember some mad fella ranting on one night after he'd had a few beers about his disappointment that the retro-gaming community wasn't contributing enough to the scene. Thank god we saw the back of him....
  22. Hey Hans - lot to take in on your post, but skim reading - seems a need to upgrade to WHS2011 with two (or more) failing drives, with tombstones etc etc.... I went through exactly the same thing beginning of the year. However, gotta say the upgrade to WHS2011 has made things sooo much more stable and the drives are ticking over 24/7 very nicely. The process here: http://www.mediasmartserver.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=13718&start=75 the latter posting showing what worked. Dunno what WHS you got, but if it's a mediasmart, seriously consider upgrading your hardware too. Good luck.
  23. Ouch. My sympathies...
  24. Takes it all back...scripting's ace..worth all the grey hair..in the words of Hannibal - "I love it when a plan comes together..."

This is how people become coders. You become addicted to that moment where it ... all ... just ... works. YESSSSS! :D

      ^^Indeed.

And then when you realize you can literally do anything you want you start getting better at it and looking for reasons to do it. :)

  25. Ahhh peanuts... all is well again.
