Thanks buddy. Appreciate it. Although not necessary. Cheers.

  8. Busted.
  9. Had an epiphany. someone did a gimp controls maker thingy - was it you null? In tgat are a whole load of controllers. Now if I can find the author to see if they have that anywgere in a list...
  10. Good point. This is any controller made for any system/console. I know that' potentially a very long list!! The main focus will be the mainstream controllers for consoles. For example DualShock2, Xbox etc. I also realize that a lot will just be generically known as "Xbox controller" for e.g. Basically, need a db of controllers which will break down into their individual buttons/controls which games map moves/functions to. So, for e.g. for Dualshock and Wipeout3, X = Accelerate, L1 fire weapon etc. Of course, the gold standard find would be a list of controllers with standardized descriptions of their buttons/controls. So, for example: [DualShock2] Cross Circle Square LeftStickUp etc... Eventually, wanting to build a database of controls for each game + would be nice to make it useable/compatible for other users/systems/apps. I've never really looked into controls.dat closely, but guessing same kinda considerations as that - guessing someone must have agreed a standard format for the different types of arcade controls. I have a sneaking suspicion I may have confused the issue more...
  11. Hi folks, In the middle of making an app to use with the fab CPWizard controls mapping app allowing its use with other emulators and systems. Needing default lists to pre-populate the database with various stuff. GE has come up trumps for Systems and Emulators, but I'm left lacking one major component. So - does anyone know if there's a list of system controllers anywhere? (e.g. "Playstation Dual Shock", "Dreamcast Zapper", "NubyTech Resident Evil 4 Chainsaw Controller" ) Doesn't matter too much about format as long as transferable into a simple .txt list. Did an interweb search and couldn't find anything. Cheers

I long for the day of having 99 problems and [a] batch aint one. Hmmm...

  13. What a good idea. My loft is just getting ridiculous with legacy IT stuff. How about donating? This one in the UK, but sure a quick email would result in partner suggestions in the US: http://www.computeraid.org/donate.asp
  14. Well, yeah - it feels like going from cheap ferrous C90s to CD to be honest! Lot to learn and only scratched the surface, but seems very versatile and lot less painless than batch. However... difficulty is gotta go back to batch now - was coding a project in batch + hit brick wall which necessitated the above. Now got that sorted - too far into the batch scripting on previous project to back-out/recode in vb - so back to batch scripting in notepad++ and command line. It hurts... awfully..... Thanks to you guys for the reccs. Oh, and db features (online and local) are available in VisStudio Express. Very kind of M$ that!
  15. Whoa. Now I do like that... very clean and understated.
  16. Cheers chaps. Shooting lightning bolts out me arse. Now that'd be a party piece...

    Ouch. Sympathies.
  18. soz tthurman. I haven't forgotten about those new images. Just up to me neck in other projects atm... will come to the top of the list once I've finished this next one... which will, of course, be using all your hard work sourcing those!
  19. Evening. As part of another project, I needed a GUI ini/cfg editor in which you could use standard windows type controls (dropdowns, colour pickers etc) to set key values. Not many out there, so had to make one. This allows you to view and edit ini/cfg files more easily than using notepad etc. It also allows you to construct schema/template files for inis. Full command line support - so people developing their own apps can integrate it. Dunno if it may prove useful to anyone. On the advice of the wise, bit the bullet and plunged into Visual Basic. My first forray, so likely some runtime bugs. Just post any bugs on the codeplex site and I shall endeavor to correct... Some screenies: To get a feel for the basic utilization, just drag and drop any emulator ini's or cfg's onto the IniRedit.exe. You can download it here: https://iniredit.codeplex.com/
  20. You can try mounting with deamon tools then using cmd line: mednafen -fs 1 -physcd \\.\L: more info here - but don't download emvoy - still the buggy version there until I get round to uploading the newer version... whoops... here: https://emvoy.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Emulator%20Setups&referringTitle=Documentationhttps://emvoy.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Emulator%20Setups&referringTitle=Documentation
  21. Happy bday, great flash - thanks for all your toil over those databases! Same to yourself time299
  22. Wow - like that - very clean. Like the subtle use of system backgrounds too.... A theme dev to watch..
  23. Oooops - been a bit slack in my attendance here lately. Aint it always the way - you miss the birfdee of a good 'un! Many happy belated returns, Merry Chirstmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks for the great plugins, true creative spirit and help over the past couple... (I'm not mentioning peanuts anymore)
  24. Hmmm.. choice of joys is always a compromise in some department. Designed my cab with a particular eye to being able to play console games using arcade controls (which really doesn't work for all console games, of course). Dilemma was that these game are designed to be used with a gamepad - that is quick responsiveness - no throw or engage distance to speak of. So, if yer wanting to play these games on a cab, get joys with very short throw+engage. Also, reasonable spring tension, so returns to neutral quick. Then you need to think about a 'gate.' This 'shapes' the stick to different directions (forgive me if teaching to suck eggs). With console pads, the sticks are essentially a "round gate." However, looking at roundgate sticks, these compromised (in my limited research) on throw and engage. Also with this issue, think about the height of the sticks. Longer/taller ones aren't gonna feel as "consoley" (!?) as shorter ones. In the end I went for: Seimitsu LS-56 with and 'octo' gate. I'm awfully glad I did. They sit short on your CP, but that adds to the console pad-type feel. The octo makes circular moves (for e.g. Tekken moves) a lot more accurate and natural feeling - also great for schmups where you do a lot of circling, but also adapts well for fighters - the octo ensures you hit the diagonals well. The throw and engage is super short, and the spring tension just right (however, this one really will be matter of taste). The compromise, of course, is that you don't have switchable gates allowing for 2,4,8 way switching. Not really issue here, as have switchable control panel units. Also, you'd miss your analogue.. hmmm tough one. I'm guessing the majority of console games you want to play on a cab, however, would be suited to digital inputs, as the ones requiring analogue stick use are maybe a little more 'sit down and play' rather than 'stand at a cab. The other thing that comes to mind (something I've got on the backburner for now) would be to buy wireless usb converter for your xbox360 controllers and hook up and output to a telly for the more 'sit down' console games running on yer rig. I got some converters that take HDMI input, convert them to cat6 so you can run them as far as you want then back to hdmi. Just a thought... In summary, I rate these sticks, although haven't tried any other asside form the cheapo ones I got as a 'builders pack.' I did do quite a bit of research and think these are commonly well rated. This page may be useful: http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/attributes_brands.html Good luck!
  25. Fantastic work. Thanks fella.
